Sportback - roof bars and box

Holidaying in the UK with one child and luggage (some of which went on the back seat) was manageable. But now we've got a second child I'm looking at getting some roof bars and a roof box for my Sportback.
    Any recommendations?
Halfords own make as opposed to Thule or other branded names?
Size of roof box - don't want something too big otherwise the wife will think of an excuse to fill it! (Smallest seem to be 250 litres)
Has anyone any pictures with box fitted to their car?

Hi Ian. Have look here http://www.flickr.com/photos/audiins...on/3691254819/

I bought thule bars and a fapa box. Both are great and very easy to fit!
Maybe, just once, someone will call me "sir" without adding, "you're making a scene".

Got my bars, roof box and cycle carries from roofbox.co.uk.

Ended up getting the Thule aero bars and Karrite roofbox (cheapest one they do) - excellent service from them and plenty of room in the roof box.

Roof Box for Base Carrier Bars AUDI A3

    Hello All,
i am looking for a box to go with my new Audi Carrier Bars on my A3.
I know that the Hlafords ones will not work as the grip mechanism does not fit.
The THULE ones look ok, but i am not sure they will grip over the bar. Any experience with boxes and the audi roof racks?

Any help will be much appreciated!
    Thank you

    james

Know it's a very old thread. But did you get an answer on this?
After 3 BMWs in over 13 years, I'm giving Audi a go.
