since i lowered my car a few weeks ago i have noticed a dull knocking noise when going over deep manhole covers ,i would say similar to a spring coming away from the mount for a split second

on not so severe pot holes i seem to get a rattle

definately to me its from the rear of the car , but sometimes on a nasty pot hole it also sounds like the front passenger side

the car was only lowered by 30 mm

ball joints have been checked all bolts that were removed when swapping the springs over have been checked

nothing visably loose , even had car on 2 poster ramp at brothers garage
and cant find the answer

never feel the knock on the drivers front though .

only suggestion he has is top mounts for rear shocks could be elongated in the hole

definately not windows rattling

any one else had this problem ?

dont mind spending on the car but dont fancy the wild goose chase first

Same happened when lowering mine and it was the front top mounts. I think with the original springs they would be under more compression, so with the shorter lowering springs they had more room to move around. Mine were completely shot on removal.

hi car is an 05 plate audi

have checked ball joints etc no visable signs of wear , levered them with a bar etc

audi a3 sportback 2.0 tdi sport

2005

ordered new front and rear top mounts and rear arb links should be here in morning will swap them over the weekend ,hoping that it cures them

If not...Check rear pads aren't rattling in the caliper!
