    load vibrating in 5 &6 at 2 to 2.5 revs

    hi all I'm new this forum Ive brought a audi a3 diesel quottro 55 reg its done 55 thousand thought it need 2 new tyres so i replaced all 4 had them tracked and balanced but the noise is still there and it is so frustrating any ideas please or any one had the same problem

    It`s your DMF vibrating. Good way to f**k() your clutch driving a diesel like that. Take it your not used to driving diesels ?

    Other car 500+ bhp MK4 Golf R32 turbo.

    come on mate tell me more please whats a dmf y will it f**k() my clutch i have a golf gttdi and no probs

    DMF = Dual Mass Flywheel. You shouldn`t accelerate diesels in 5-6th gear at 2-2.5K rpm as the torque produce can damage the DMF internals which will cause the car to vibrate all the time.

    but it dont do it before 2 thousand revs and stops after 2and a half .so how can that be then? you drive at that on the motorsway , your not really accelerating at that just cruising if you know what i mean

    I have the same problem with my 05 1.9TDI at 48K... It's noticeable to the driver but passengers are not aware- YET!

    DevonMikeyBoy: Why the hell can't i drive my car at mid revs without it breaking!?!? That's ridiculous! Where in the user manual does it say that
    "this Audi is incapable of being driven in 5th and 6th gear where you would need to accelerate or overtake in the range of 2K -2.5K revs or it will break!" Surely if a DMF can't last more than 40-50K miles than they should use a normal flywheel?


    Tell you what, Im loosing faith in Audi with all these build quality issues. I bought this A3 used with only one owner who covered under average mileage (38K when i took delivery). Within 3 weeks the engine failed which was covered under warranty... then the steering rack... and now my DMF!

    I love my motor but it's just not acceptable from what should be a quality manufacturer!

    I have to agree with Paul C. I wasn't given an introduction to driving Audi TDI's. I haven't read the manual either but I am sure the 2k to 2.5k is not an odd speed to be accelerating at in fact in six gear at 2.5K I would guess that is about 60MPH? I've not checked and that's only a guess.

    I have had the DMF and clutch changed on a 2005 2.0tdi 65K and still hasn't fixed an issue with the car. Maybe I was ripped off, maybe Audi's are rubbish (But I still love her). I won't be buying another that's for sure.
    Maybe, just once, someone will call me "sir" without adding, "you're making a scene".

    y don't we all go back to audi and make them sort it ! as it seems a common fault , i have had golfs for years (still got one with 164000 on clock ) and never had a problem then i sold my scooby, what never let me down so i went for a audi as they are supposed to be as good as vw , its these little things what piss you off and only had it 2 weeks

    Bearder. I have been advised that the flywheel may have been responsible for knocking the gearbox which has cause my current problem. He did ask if there was any virbration when in 3rd gear, which I don't have.

    Oh. I tried my car at 2.5k revs will put the car at around 80mph probably more. What are you supposed to do drop it into 4th? Not sure what the devon boy was referring to?

    i know i could not under stand as well what devon boy was really saying as i did the same thing as you and tried it with similar results , some one emailed me saying it could be the engine mounts ?

    Is this for real?
    My car sits at 2k rpm in 6th @ 70 or thereabouts, so accelerating from 70 in 6th will damage the DMF?

    not as far as i know had it hpi and up on ramps when i had the tyres fitted . but reading what other people have said on hear its a problem with the cars i think just trying to find out how others mended there's and what the problem was
