What is this for?

I have spotted a red switch\clip under the accelerator pedal, before I start playing with it, does anyone have an idea what it is used for?

lmao flux capacitor, anyway is it the plug/connector for the loom to plug into for the gas pedal or a release clip to remove the pedal from the floor.
