8 p models

I am thinking of buying an A3 audi.Think I will go for an 05/06 tdi (140 bhp model).The more I look at the more I get confused.

How many facelifts did the 8p get ?Think it was first model in 2003,then a facelift in 2006 and another one in 2009.Is that write or can anyone correct me if I am wrong ?

Also there are alot of models,se,s-line,sports etc.Which is the best to get ?I want a sports look,good handling and comfort.I want to lower the car on 18's.

Whats the difference between these models and does they come with different bumpers side skirts and so on ?

Also how easy is it to tune the 140 bhp engine ?Is it true just a chip will get you up to 185bhp ?Will the engine and turbo be on there limits by that point ?

if your after performance and comformt etc etc best bet isto get something like a3tdi sporty S-Line which is the more sport'ier' version.


yeah you can look into ST3 revo etc etc and expect those kind of gains on the car. not sure about the engine or turbo, clutch might need some attention but again not too sure im sure others on here will know!

Hi

Your correct regarding the three face lifts! First one with the Split grill 2003-2005, Then there was the one grill face lift 2005-2008 and then the new ones you see on the road from 2008 with the new head lights etc etc.

S-line would be the best to get, looks the business with the exterior and interior. You get leather seats, 18" as standard on the car. Few other bits, also the s-line looks better aswell because there different bumpers on the car aswell and the little badges. Any of the models be fine to lower on 18' but if you can i'd get an s-line over an SE Sport or a Standard one.


The 2.0tdi 140 engine quite easy to tune with the first remap car can get gains up to extra 30bhp or 40bhp. The engine and turbo will not be on the limit at that stage so nothing to worry about there. I'm sure some of the lads with the 2.0tdi 140 engine will give you a little bit mroe information regarding tuning the car.

As mentioned you can get a revo or gaic (sp) and add a fair bit of poke for a few hundred

Thanks alot for your help.Are revo or gaic tuning chips ?I am well into ford and the most tuning chip used is bluefin.Isnt that good for audis ?

Also how easy to chip the car ?Can it be made at home or its better left for the experts ?

Does these cars gives any problems ?Especially the engine ?Many cars that are out for sale have high milage.(80k +).Is there anything to worry about ?

Remap,clutch,panel filter and exhaust 180-190 bhp and can be drivern as hard as you like.

Don`t think you can get uprated clutches for the DSG box but could be wrong.

You can buy a thing called an Alientechbox. The map get sent to you via email then you up load it on to the box then up load it on to your cars ECU. Lots of tuning companies have these for sale like Chipped UK etc with there own maps already installed on. or

04/05 bmw 320d cd sport ?

I want the audi but many of my friends and parents are suggesting I should get the beemer.

Dont get me wrong I love bmw's and do look really cool but think I prefer the sportier look of the a3.
