s3 door bottom piece

hey guys,NHN, ive recently fitted some s3 side skirts to my 05 a3 3 door, but they appear to be slightly catching on the door bottom? im sure i read a post about having to change the a3 bottom to s3 bottom? a friend of mine seems to think i can get away with removing approx 1mm from original bottom as its plastic. has anyone tried this,

I've fitted S3 skirts to my car and tried triming the door trims but they always catched on the sideskirts after a week or so. i sanded more and more off but still no good, in the end i bought some s3 door trims and had them fitted, i'll advise doing the same.;)
 
I'd buy the correct trim, AFAIK they are a different shape and deeper to fit the deeper skirt shape.
