    Hi Guys,

Ok so i got a few questions for people... and would like some opinions...

for those who have iPod connector...

I dont know whether it's just me and im not doing it right but when playing my ipod i can never see the track names.. is everyones like this? if so why? i dont get why you buy the Audi one and its not even great! if i knew you couldnt see tracks i'd have never got the Audi iPod!!

for those who have Bluetooth Phone prep ...

how do yo find it? i think its pretty good apart from i do have to speak rather loud for people to hear me!!

and for those who have Nav...

behind the nav screen you have the two memory card slots, how do you use them? i know a stupid question but ..... i know you load music on to them but not sure how. once full of music do they display track names and stuff.. ???

it's driving me mad that i cant see track names.. almost makes me feel like i have wasted a lot of money on certain things!

    some other stupid questions..

what is that button next to the light switch? it's got a picture of your full lights and a clock?? the button also has a little red light on it? can't seem to find anything about it

and one other.. this ones a bit lazy but what is the voice button on my steering wheel. it's on the right hand side.. your all probs going to think how can he not know this stuff after three months haha! i'm just a bit stupid like that

Not sure about the ipod dock in conjunction with RNSE but when you dock an ipod with the concert stereo it doesn't show track names, just numbers.

Crap I know but tbh does it really matter? Surely the main thing is you can have all your music readily available. It still beats carrying a shed load of CD's.

As for the light switch thing I think that might be the coming home (?) feature. A time delay switch that leaves you lights on long enough for you to find your front door (just incase you loose it).

Not 100% on these so feel free to correct/laugh.

Correct!, you cant get track names from the iPod connection!

4 gig on each I think and yes it will display track names / titles across the screen. Don't get cheap SD cards from eBay as they will be fake and will not work.

it's driving me mad that i cant see track names.. almost makes me feel like i have wasted a lot of money on certain things!

This is why I put my order back to get an MY10 build, so I could get Audi Music Interface with my Nav.

Hey all - You'll have to forgive me, but no manual yet as don't collect my S3 until next week now! But I have the 1st gen IPhone, there is apparently already an MP3 connection in the S3 stereo? in the form of a headphone socket as standard? Does anyone know if the I Phone will work with this route? and if so how?

    Cheers
    Nick

Leenx - you should get an Aux-In connection by the 12v cigarette socket. It will be a 3.5mm jack connection. I don't know the iPhone, but I'm guessing it has a headphone socket similar to the above, so a standard 3.5mm stereo jack to jack lead would do the job.

Thanks Jon - You mean something like this?

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/3-5mm-Male-S.../dp/B000Q6I1WW

Think this would do the job? and without comprimising on sound? There's no way I can afford another 200 for an Ipod connector tray which is what the dealer has charged me inc fitting.

The Iphone seems to have real troubles when connecting to car stereo sources especially from it's jack connection - anyone else noticed this?

That would work, but for the best sound you'd be better off with something that uses the line-out from the dock connector.

I have one of these in my Mini - charges my iPod touch, good quality output to the 3.5mm line in on the car, and allows me to skip tracks safely, which is hard using the touchscreen:

    Griffin Autopilot:

Am hoping it works just as well in my A3 when it arrives, but don't see why it wouldn't.

Ah nice one! So looks like there are two seperate bits to that? How does that work? Sorry not to clued up in these things! Also I'm guessing if it works for the ITouch it should work for the IPhone? As you say no reason why it wouldn't work in your A3?

I wouldn't bother with the ipod connector if you have spec'd the sat nav unit. I find the 2 SD card slots more than ample to store all my music. Track names are displayed when using the SD slots where as I don't think they are though the Ipod connector.

The blue tooth phone prep works well and I don't find I have to speak loud. Normal voice is plenty loud enough so if you have to raise your voice I would guess it is something to do with your settings.

The button next to the light switch is to enable the coming home/leaving lights. Again I think the duration can be adjusted.

The voice button is to set up voice commands for certain functions.

The first gen iPhone uses a special "thin" 3.5mm jack. The actual socket is mounted quite deep inside the iPhone so most headphones wont reach inside to make a connection. You need to track down a special Apple converter (left image below) or a lead made for the job. The 3G iPhone works with normal headphones as Apple moved the socket closer to edge of the phone.

You'll need the apple adaptor and also a 3.5 to 3.5 mm extension lead to use the aux in plug. Sorry, didn't post a link to the extension, but there's loads to choose from.
