Longest stint behind the wheel

i wouldnt mind a trip to europe with my car though the tunnel.... id like to go italy ive heard its nice scenery etc..also id like to go on unt der autobahn as partridge says lol ..not france though that would be bypassed

Blazin for moderator, lol

Gotta do an Italy run sooner or later, hopefully before summer, looking forward to that, will take time & see some places on route

Brussels to Quimper (Brittany) for a meeting and then back again the next morning (1000 km each way)! Was in a Ford Focus TDCI on that occasion. I found out that they do indeed have speed traps on the French toll roads

Worst part of that was that they demanded 90 Euro on the spot as I was in a Belgium car - "pay up or we will seize the car" were my options as I recall! Needless to say I paid up and got on my way (the 90 Euro wasn't expensable unfortunately!)

Bought my last car from Edinburgh so drove it back to Northampton. That night we were due to go visit relatives in Ireland, so after a 30min break we set off again.

Did about 1000 miles in the first 24 hours of ownership, and even slept in the car on the Ferry on the first night

i drove to kfc an back what a night mare they was damn slow on the zingers lol

Falmouth to Hillington (Glasgow) 6.5 hours in a hired Passat
Moffat to Munich 997 miles average 77 in my A6 (cruise at 120 but hey its only an old diesel none of this Porsche stuff)
Moffat to Reading, did a days work, drove back 705 mile in the day A6
Edinburgh to London one evening , training course in Slough and drove back next day A6
Avoriaz (Swiss) to Stratford on Avon 22 hours god those ****** french traffic jams in a company ford escort
And many more too tedious to mention
Red Bull and water is better than coffee, keeps you awake hydrated and its not a diuretic so stopping for a pee is less of a problem

I've done 800 miles in 12 hours, from Toulon to London four times this year without a problem. Cruise control makes it a lot easier, and I find sticking to water rather than caffeine helps too. The French motorways are pretty smooth too, which is a bonus if you've got S-Line suspension.

ETA - On the most recent trip I got caught on some kind of camera, it took a picture of my number plate and on the next gantry flashed up my reg. no. and told me to slow down. I drove like an old woman for the next 50km or so :3sadwalk:

only like 3 hours........ some of you have driven for ages lol

Longest drive I ever did in 1-ish go was just under 1400 miles. Back in 2002 I had to go from Heidelberg to Calais to pick stuff up, then Calais to Chemnitz to deliver the stuff, then back to Heidelberg to shag the ex-missus and fall asleep in a heap :whistle2:

It took 24 hours all in, I say 1-ish go because at about 6 a.m I was completely fecked just crossing over into the Former East Germany, and needed an hour's kip in the car. Might of been able to do it quicker, but I'm crap at reading maps and got lost a couple of times :whistle2:

Was a new-ish Mk4 Golf GTi

Going to the ring next week so this will be my longest trip.

South Wales (Swansea area) ---> Nurburg

Not sure of the exact mileage but its a long way by my standards!

Should be around 550-600 miles - I live about 100 miles from the 'Ring and drive to Newport regularly, which isn't far from you

In my a3 with 4 other passengers and luggage I did:

Belfast Port - Stranraer

Stranraer - Silverstone

Think it took near 10 hours the whole trip due to the fact I had to follow a van on our way to the Formula Student event held at the race circuit!

Was comfy enough and enjoyed the trip - was wrecked though!!!

750 miles London to The Three Valleys in 12 hours give or take door to door

Got paranoid about not being able to get 98 ron fuel in France so stopped evert time I saw a shell station but was ok in the end.

Steady 120 - 130 Kmh with the odd blast to 240 Kmh when someone gets on your nerves with their driving

Comfy enough journey both ways cruise control is a winner

Did Le Mans in France to Chester in one day, bout 12 hours. Did it in my Focus ST, was a long day! great drive though, the tunnel is great!
