S3 car tax?

Hi guys im new to the forum, just sold my mkv golf gti, the car i want next is the audi s3 but i cant work out the car tax on parkers it says S3 quatro £245 from april 2010, but then S3 08 onwards £425 however the co2 emmisions are greater on the 06-08 than the 08-present?? can someone please explain, thanks in advance

The £425 is the tax for the first year of owning it brand new and the years after it will be £235.

The increased price in the first year is meant to put people off buying brand new high emission cars I think.

The so called "showroom tax". I'd hardly call an S3 high emission car. Klauster I feel your pain when you get your demand to pay for the privilege of driving on our crappy pot holed roads.

Did you get a year and a few days or something, when i got my last new car last june i got a year and 2 weeks as it was mid month
