    lowering springs

    i have a a3 2.0fsi sport, am getting some rs6 alloys and going to lower it. i want it to be similar to the s line maybe a bit lower but i still want some ride comfort, i was looking at the eibach pro's but spoke to damian from dpm n he said with them il see a 15 mm drop whereas the sportlines will give me around a 25-35 mm drop, im sure what he says is exactly right but im still unsure with what to get! do people have pics of their cars running on sportline springs? if so what is the ride like?!

    I had the same dilema as you when choosing lowering springs.
    Here's a couple of pics I collected when trying to help make my mind up.

    This car has Eibach -50mm springs with 18" wheels



    This one has H&R -50mm springs with 19" wheels.
    The H&R seem to lower it further (Especially at the front)

    thats great thanks! yea the H&R seem to lower it a lot more, or it just looks that way cos of colour, it does look good on eibach's tho, seems to have a nice even gap all around wheel. what did you finally end up fitting then?!

    I personally think the eibachs look better, but I look for a bot of comfort as well as sportyness. I bet the ride was bone shattering on 19"s with the H&R springs?

    yea same here, its just i didnt want to go out n buy the sportline ones n then fit them to find they were stupidly low n uncomfortable. but then again, i didnt want to go out n buy the pro's n find no difference whatsoever!

    The black one looks hardly any lower than mine at standard. Someone posted a few weeks ago a black sportback with the -50 Sportlines on and it looked a lot lower than that one. Sure it has the sportlines and not the pro-kit -30's?

    yeah so do i thats why im getting a set on mine ...mine are for qauttro though i couldnt get eibachs that would go that low for a qauttro so h&rs will be fine i hope it sits like the one below il be dead chuffed

    im paying 230 quid from dpm but there for qauttro if yours is qauttro then fine,,,, if not im not sure ask damien at dpm

    Does anyone have be more pics of their a3's running on eibach sportline springs? I'm still really unsure. I know with the pro's there will be very little difference but I don't want it very low like the a3 on the h&r. Even tho it looks nice I still want that kinda standard unmodified kinda look

    Thats my car with the h&r's above. It looks lower at the front because the car is on a slight hill. The car sits really nice on these springs. I had the eibachs on before. I'm sorry I bought them tbh. The car just dosen't look right with 19's and eibachs. As for ride comfort it was a concern for me changing to the h&r's too but there's nothing to worry about as long as you're not loading the car up front and rear cuz then there will be rubbing. "Bone shattering" ... nah no way. If you have 19's get the H&R's .

    Mine's a sport btw so a bit lower than Se as standard

    I ended up going for coilovers as I didn't want any gap between the arches and tyres. TBH, on 19's with 225/35 tyres, the ride (whilst firm) is great.

    99% of A3 drivers are concerned with ride quality.
    Guess thats natural as we've opted to own these "premium" hatches in the 1st place.

    It's widely accepted that the suspension on S-line models is harsh, crashy and unforgiving. Pretty much all info I've read seems to say that changing to either eibach or H&R springs provides an improvement in ride quality. This cannot be said for most cars.

    At the end of the day mate, I'd say the decision comes down to how you want the car to look. For me, the H&R look better and they're every bit as good as Eibach. There shouldn't be any concern over ride quality if you're an S-Line owner.

    The H&Rs are great. Got mine from B-B Motorsport (http://www.b-b-motorsport.de/en/cars_audi_a3.html) who supplied a 45mm drop set for the quattro as the std drop is 35mm. Wheels are 8.5x19ET48 with no rubbing

    can people put pics of their cars which have been lowered n say what spring you got, im really unsure what to get, n i dont want to get summin n then not be sure bout it! cos i would like a nice clean even gap around the wheel, but the eibach pros will only make like a 15mm difference n not even sure that will make much difference!

    gixxer... its either eibachs or h&r really if you're talking about decent quality springs. You want a decent drop and a ride that won't break your back then get the H&R's. I've had both and you won't be disappointed with the H&R's.

    but im unsure about the ride height, i either go eibach pro's n see a little drop, which i think will look nice, or say the sportlines, which will give a bigger drop, but im not too sure with what it will look like, i want to keep it looking near standard, little bit lower than s line! will the pro kit be enough for that?!

    If you're wanting it near S-Line standard then I'd say go for the Pro's.

    heres mine with eibach pros, you dont really notice that much of a drop as its only about 10mm

    but i think an extra 20mm drop might be too much!

    alinghi9 - the drop on your car is barely noticeable, would you say the ride has improved drastically? The H&R springs look a better set overall

    yes i am happy with them, definitely feel the difference car seems more stable and doesnt seem to bounce around on the road as much as it previously did. to be honest the drop is really not noticeable at all 20mm its literally nothing.

    nice mate i remember your thread thats what made me wanna drop mine.. i wanted the sportline or h&rs personally just cos im getting a set on the 27th lol but was gonna go sportline first but the dont fit the qauttro......................

    Sure do, 20mm more, compare the black one on sportlines to the red one on pros, quite obvious the black one is lower, especially at the front.

    I don't suppose people with either the eibach pros or sportline can measure the gap batween top of tire and arch.

    ok so what i did on mine was to measure from arch to top of tyre and then arch to the ground.

    eibach pros

    front - 6/65 cm
    back - 8/69 cm
