    Rough cost for fitting springs?

    Alright chaps...

    I've got some Eibach Sportlines which i will be fitting to the car before putting on some 19" BBS CK's (i'll post photos when it's done).

    I'm currently collecting prices to have the springs fitted. Just out of interest have any of you had springs fitted and what sort of price would you consider reasonable? Also, do they have to be lazer levelled?

    im getting mine done at dpm on the 20th 150 for fitting which is a good price i think dont think they need laser though because there not adjustable theres nothing the laser would acheive i dont think ....they just seem to settle after a week or so from what i can gather

    Cheers for that buddy... I've been quoted 120 this morning by a garage so i'll probably go with that. My wheels arrived this morning so i can't stand the wait any longer!

    They will need laser allignment after, as the camber of your wheels will be slightly different due to the lowered stance. Most people dont bother but when the inside of tyres scrub quickly, dont moan about it!

    I was charged 300 all in for springs, fitting and laser alignment at AMD in Thurrock Essex.
    2008 A3 1.8T FSI S-line Phantom Black, Bose, iPod Dock, Front Centre Armrest, Storage Pack, Aluminium Pedals, H&R Spacers, Eibach Pro's, Ambient Lighting, Pressed plates with Ingolstadt surrounds.

    300 ??????????

    Its such an easy job that could be done in under 2 hours (and thats without the use of a four post jack)

    The back is easy as pie.....

    There is one bolt behind the rear disc brake - remove them on each side, move the base of the shock out of the way and the rear beam will drop down. this will allow access to the rear springs which should just pull out.

    If you do not have the rears done in about 30-45mins there is something wrong!

    The fronts are a bit trickier but still easy for most competant people if you put your mind to it!

    300 though is shockingly expensive to pay for a simple job!

    300 for springs and fitting and a laser alignment isn't so bad.

    Springs - 150
    Fitting - 100
    Alignment - 50

    Its alright sayin its easy....but if you dont know how and you dont have the correct tools, like a spring compressor, its not easy lol

    TBH if you're technically minded in that respect the rears are infact a doddle as tbh its self insanitory, cant really go wrong, like a jigsaw, lol, fronts are a pain in the arse tbh which I can now do in my sleep, yeah right, wish I'd taken a mates advice, take the whole damn hub etc out in one hit & do, but I got them done nonetheless & it taught me few things aswell in the process, so if you're up for a challenge I'd give go yourself.

    100-150 is fair price for spring change & if you get alignment for 50 then well done as thats very good, thats usually to check & higher mostly & then charges to adjust.

    For my 300 I got a hassle free service of rock up, drop car off, kill a couple of hours in Lakeside (OK not the greatest of places but bearable, just) then collect car knowing it's been seen to by experts with the knowledge and proper gear, both of which I'm lacking. Also my peace-of-mind is priceless.

    No doubt people can get it done cheaper but 300 seemed perfectly reasonable to me.

    I have to agree, I've messed about with spring clamps before and they can be dangerous, especially if your having a few cans whilst doing the job! Thats if you have a set in the first place, and then theres the other tools, some people on here may not have a pair of axle stands etc etc

    so what springs did you buy for 150? thats not all that bad for 300, baring in mind it was all done in one go and by professionals... not like you had to order the springs... search for a decent garage for cheap fitting price then get the laser alignment!

    and hey, ikea in lakeside can waste a couple hours easy if you are planning on a bedroom redo! or even just go to halfords and bore those guys about how bad their products can be. (not that i do any of this)

    Eibach Pro 30mm from Damian@dpm, he's the man mate for suspension etc parts, cant beat him.

    Some good replies here fellas thanks very much. Appreciated.
    I know some people have done the job themselves and i considered it until some people started talking about lazer allignment and spring clamps.... All sounds a bit risky for a beginner like myself!

    I'm guessing the Eibach Pro kit will give my S-Line approx a 10mm drop (as the s-line is already 20mm lower?).
    I had a quick look at some H&R's but they're approx 100 more than Eibach's and to be honest i've spent enough already!

    Until the warranty has just a year remaining in July/August yes mate.
    The option i'd considered, as i'd said before was to chop it in for an S3 just for a change of scenery until July/August.
    However, i do love the car, can't fault it at all and after consideration i wouldn't really gain a lot by going to an S3 for a few months.
    So.... Decided to put the 2K+ into wheels, tyres, springs etc and keep the car interesting. Might even look into a Milltek system.
    All mods which can be removed and resold when i trade the car in come the end of the summer.

    I went for Eibach Pro's. Standard s-line springs are too harsh imo.

    tbh I've not noticed much of a drop. Maybe 7-8mm max but the ride has improved no end.
