What should I rev my new 1.6 to, without harming the engine?

To the limiter



If you mean it isn't run in yet i would just drive it steady for the first thousand miles. I.e don't labour the engine and don't rev the nuts off it.

Well atm I tend to be revving it to around the 4k mark with the odd occasion where it has reached just over 5k. Does that seem a little too high, or ok?

It is an awesome looking car RS84...and its my first car
