17075 - Fan 1 Control Circuit: Short to GND

Hi today i turned on my Air con for its monthly run and lo and behold i have got the dreaded ECON light not turning off,

i have looked through the forum and cant find the same 3 faults together,

i have checked the fuses and all are fine this time,

i say this time because a few month ago i had the 10amp fuse blow which supply's the fans and the Motor Intake Manifold Flap, this brought on the check engine light with it also, replaced the fuse and all was fine

    so i am stuck,

is the problem the fans of the intake flap?

trust them to be on the same circuit eh

there is nothing obstructing the fans so that cant be the fault, are the fans a common failing part?

Here's more help on the fault code

    18359/P1951/006481 - Radiator Fan 2 (V177): Movement Restricted / Jammed

    Possible Causes
    • Coolant Fan 2 (V177) restricted/jammed
    Possible Solutions
    • Check Coolant Fan 2 (V177) for Restriction/Blockade
      • Check for Foreign Objects and Accidental Damage as well as Restrictions
    Special Notes
    • Remove the Coolant Fan 2 (V177) Fuse(s) for Safety Reasons before checking it
So make sure there's nothing blocking the fan....again!

On an old car, there was a screw stuck in the fan which a mechanic had dropped in the fan which restricted it from spining when it got wedged...it got wedged every now and then so keep spining the fan and see it it does jam...

Or, clear codes, start up the car, warm it up to 90 and then park up and rev it to 2kish and hold (get a friend to do it) and wait for fans to kick it... Watch them to make sure thye dont jam and if they dont and the fault code appears - it may be sensor

    Is it under warranty??

hi yes it seems to be the fans at fault this time and must have been my IMF b4,

note: the fuse did not blow this time just logged the faults.

they move freely and are OK,

which sensor could be at fault?

    not under warranty unfortunately

If you are sure the fans didnt trip when the car was revved a 2.5k and heated up proper than it could be loose connection that moves - check them.

If not, im not really too sure what it could be but at a guess, it could be the fan motor itself sending out errors as it thinks its jammed..

TBH, dont know too much on the fans but the golfs had a common prob with a control box or something blowing...

BEst of waiting along to see is anyone has soem know how on the issue on here and if not, take it to a garage..
