Hi all, Not sure if this is against forum rules but I am contemplating selling my beloved audi due to a house purchase, and might be interested in selling the ultimate registration for the new 2009 onwards S3 DSG model. The registration number is 'S3 DSG' and I would like loads of money for it otherwise it will be sold with the car in the next month or so. Any offers? Cheers:s3addict:

Thanks for your free valuation Mitch, but I think anyone buying a new £30k plus S3 DSG would feel differently!

Credit Crunch! Last thing you want to buy is a number plate!

Most S3 prefix only fetch 4-500 max so yes indeed good luck!

A perfect example of why I think car-specific numberplates are daft.

I should also point out the term 'DSG' doesn't apply to Audi any more.
In fact, it never applied to the S3 as Audi had ditched the term by then!
They changed it to 'S-tronic' long before the S3 came along.
Only VW use the term 'DSG' now.
So, really, it was wrong when you bought it!

Unless your name is Derek Stuart Granger, in which case I apologise.

DSG is bobbins anyway. Ruins the car. The last thing I'd want to do is advertise the fact I'd made such a blunder.

It was wrong you put it in your signature too then I guess :)

Hmmm, don't necessarily agree with that. I know of a plate owned by a certain dealer near me: "M3 BMW". They have been offered serious money for it in the past, but wont sell it... Wish I owned it though! Likewise M5 BMW, M6 BMW, M3 CSL, etc, etc, etc.

Not sure anyone outside of "Audi land" would know what DSG meant on the number plate though, thus it's appeal is limited. They would probably just assume that it's the owner's initials.

Good luck with the sale though, although I suspect you may be disappointed financially.

To put this into context there are 1000 plus plates available for sale on the dvla website starting prefix S3 ???, I know this as I have been looking for one with S3 plus my initials. My previous S3 I had, (8L model) had an S3 specific plate on it when I bought it and I let it go with the car. I suppose its a personal choice thing. I quite liked having the S3 plate on the car.

But its supply and demand and there is a massive supply from the dvla which can be yours for £250 including assignment fee, so if you think that your going to score any additional reddies on this plate then your in Cukoo land. :faint:

So it makes the car quicker, more efficient and fun to drive...so why does it ruin the car exactly? Beacause yours does not have DSG?

Exactly bowfer! There seem to be quite a few ppl with little money or common sense that don't really understand the link with the car (Mitch...) Just as you point out 'M3 BMW' is worth more than 'M3 + 3x random letters. I have been offered way, way more than any of the figures quoted in this thread and it is my first time on the site, but based on this I assume people with money aren't really enthusiasts that spend time on this site?

I hated DSG with a passion.
Fun it certainly was NOT, in my book.

Anyway...

With regard to members on here not being enthusiasts and, according to you, failing to recognise the value of your plate, I would argue the exact opposite.
It's the fact that we are enthusiasts that means we can see the 'DSG' means nothing on an S3.
There is no such thing as an S3 DSG, end of.
If you are able to sell your plate on the back of the 'DSG' bit, then the new owner doesn't know much about Audis.
Good luck though.

Now, if you'll excuse me I have some quattro badges to sell to VW 4-motion owners.;)

I sold my 3.2 DSG as quickly as I could as I did not like the car being in control of gear changes. Fun to drive ? Are you serious ?

Is this Stevvvvvvvie guy for real? Or is he just out to cause trouble?

Ach, I think he's just convinced himself his plate is a work of genius, when anyone who knows their Audis knows it's not.
It's one of those times when you wish you were there in person.

"that plate"
"yeah, good innit"
"but Audi stopped calling it DSG long before the S3 came out"
"........*nervous swallow*......er....um..."

:jester:

Uh tbh I dont understand the LINK between your BRAIN & YOUR MOUTH cause they dont seem to be working to well together or atall based on your such inspiring posts to date

I suggest you go find your offer WAY WAY MORE(as he puts the lollipop in his mouth & plays with his hair like a little girl) & stick it where the sun dont shine cause u really are quite an annoying little *****

Who cares, he's got a stuck up ****** attitude overall

I will say though the DSG on a mk5 golf gti was quicker than manual, was on the Tube to show us so cant deny thats quite possibly true, but S3 against 3.2 A3, I know I'd be with the S3 tbh, going on basis of what I know about the cars which isnt as much as some but enough I believe

At last, its SOLD!! thanks for all the offers though, and good luck with all your Audis! Derik:hi:

Good, does that mean you'll be leaving the site now, close it on the way if thats ok

lma, yeah funny i was thinking that, bet he got £250 for it, or did he resell it back to dvla, lol

anyone want to make me an offer for my personalised plate.......

PR1 CK

Piers Morgan has already made me a decent offer for it, but want to sell to an absolute ***** rather than a total c***.

Any ideas/takers?

l remember a mate had F1 RST on his Escort RS Turbo years ago. l wonder how much that is worth now.

Glad I could help Stevvie!

Couldnt agree more with both

I know a bloke that owns '1P'
(his name is Pang)
Allegedly, it cost him £70k
More than the £55k Merc coupe he has it on.
Quite incredible, but he was already a well-off bloke and these things were bought as the result of a £300k lottery win.
Some people eh...

Wow, the As.net descended on him with a passion there lol. Love it.

On a side note, I saw a chav get totally owned this morning on the way to work. Must have said the wrong thing to the wrong bloke because the guy dished out a real quick lesson muhahahhaa. Its made my absolute week :) especially as the fat ugly chav bird with him got to witness her "ard" boyfy getting served. Boy i wish i had my phone out quick enough.

S3 vs 3.2 DSG: (Me vs Wes) - clicky the piccy

That made me spit coke all over the keyboard, L60N.
Brilliant.

It was pure comedy. Afterwards he climbed up off his *** and tried to look all cool and teenage angst like. Bearing in mind about 50 commuters watched on as it took place at the side of a busy road. muahahahaha

What language is that? :uhm:
