Hi just wondering if anyone has done one and any advice on doing one, have heard that the driveshfts have to be removed? Any advice would be great.

Thanks

Ben

for the hassle my mechanic went through to change mine, Id just let the pros do it tbh.

Its definitly worth to change the tensioners which come with the timing belt kit from audi (for £135+) but cheaper its if your trade...

Im pretty sure the driveshafts werent removed when mine was done though...

Drive shafts dont have to come out

in simple terms: - inner wing out, support engine, left engine mounting off, all timing covers off, pin all timing gears, remove belt, replace tensioners etc, belt back on and retime (which can be a ba$^%?d, as one tooth out and good night vienna) then reverse of above

I would also say that when I got a quote from JKM (local independent specialist) they also recomended that the water pump was changed.

what's the concensus on belt change intervals? My Alfa 156 was officially 72,000 miles but the tensioners kept going at 40,000 odd miles so they reduced it to every 36,000 miles.
Are there many early failure horror stories on teh 2.0TDI unit or are the standard manufacturer recomendations OK?
