Well,

I've been thinking on this Issue these days.
From Audi, I'm considering the A3 1.8 TFSI, or the A3 2.0 TFSI.

Any known issues with these engines ?

What about maintenance ?

Do the water pumps need to be replaced soon like on the "old" 1.8 T ?

Hi Luis

Had my 1.8T FSI for 12 months now and it has never missed a beat. Totally reliable, although I do very little mileage (4k so far).

Regarding maintenance all I've done is add a drop of oil and as for servicing I'm on the variable type. My DIS display is showing an oil service due in about 360 days or 12k miles and a main service in about 440 days or 17k miles.

Can't really comment on the 2.0T FSI not having owned one but from reading on here for about a year now very few problems seem to exist.
