S3 grille fitted to my S-line facelift

Inspired by Sem and Hastie 1776 I have just fitted the same optics to my A3 Cabriolet. It does just finish the front off nicely.

and it fits perfectly.

Thanks for the PM Pucho, but I'm afraid I don't know sorry

Some nice Bi-xenons with the leds would finish your front off nicely!!

Should have chose the metal roofed version aswell, saved you a fortune! :)

I think I saw you on the A5/M54 bit last weekend with the roof off

Hi guys,

Had my car for 2 months now and couldn't resist doing a couple of mods

I always felt the new grille on the facelift looked a bit bland (the standard S-line grille is no longer unique to the S-line). I wasn't overly keen on the black optics grille on a black car as it hides the trapezoid frame and I feel the car loses its identity.

I love the look of the chrome 'S' series grille, I did some research and after searching through several german Audi forums and using an online translator I discovered the new S3 facelift grille is a straight swap for the standard grille

I decided to order it ASAP before everyone discovered the mod which normally results in VAG increasing the price.

The S3 badge was removed, I wasn't happy with just gluing the S-line badge on so I machined a special adapter - this converts the slot to accept the OEM S-line badge and allows it to clip in perfectly. I'll add some pics if anyones interested.

The other mod i've done is the RNS-E which is fantastic so i've included a few pics of that.

Hello Sem,

i want to ask you, how you do that with the S line badge. I buy the same 'S' series grille in crom an have problems with the the S Line badge. You machined a special adapter, how it look`s?
I dont't know how to do that, i need support :sorry:!
Do you have pics?
:o.k:

regards

Pete (AudiSline)

Sem...looks like you're on to a money spinner here...as per previous post...can you explian or offer to make the clips you have machined?...looking for one myself...

Didn't think this thread was still going!, anyway...

The adapter is like this:

One end replicates the clip of the original S3 badge (the side that goes into the grille) and the other end is the 'female' end of the S-Line badge (to allow the s-line badge to clip in). The adapter took us a good day to make so i'll be honest and say there won't be any more! I did take some pics at the time so i'll have to dig them out and post up. As i've mentioned before, this isn't something you could make with normal DIY tools, my dad is an engineer so has access to specialist machinery.

I'll get some updated pics of my car up maybe tomorrow as it's just been detailed and i've got a new mod to show off so i'll try and get the pics of the adapter up at the same time.

Sem, I dont know why you didnt just use the S3 backplate with an sline badge stuck on to this as I did with mine, looks 100% oem aswell, I used double sided sticky pad type, hasnt gone anywhere in months, job done, you cant even see any tape either, given the sline badge rear is a long flat strip, so perfect.

Hello

I have purchased the s3 grille for my a3 sportback s-line.

Can somebody give me some tips for the bumper removal?

I have found some DIY's for the pre-facelift model but the bumper removal on the facelift model seems to be slightly different.

Many thanks!

Seen SEM's machine today in Telford, could have sworn it was an S3 from the front! Only my sad brain spotted it didnt have skirts. Then i recognised the plate and dug up this thread. Car was looking brand new in the sun today mate, you wouldnt have spotted me, I was on foot
