Anyone know why some A3's have 50mm struts and others have 55mm?

I've searched the forum, but cannot find the answer....

My 2.0TFSI and the S3's have the larger diameter

I'm about to buy springs, and need to know if my 2005 2.0TDi Sport has 50mm or 55mm diameter??

55mm on the 2.0TDI, had mine measured the other week.

55mm is by far the most popular but there is 50mm struts out there for some reason..

I'll go with the 55mm.

The next question seems to surround axel load.
When looking for springs / coilovers, there's like 2 or 3 variants....

i.e. from 1036kg - 1105kg fa axel load
or from 1106kg - 1170kg fa axel load
or up to 1035kg fa axel load

Which is correct for the 2005 2.0TDI sport?

Why dont you just measure the struts on your car, pretty risky buying parts on a hunch..

Would've thought there would be a reason for the two variants tho...

Take it you haven`t bothered to look in the owners manual then.1075KG front 975KG rear.

I doubt your dealer will know off the top of their head!

The best way to be sure is jack your car up and removed the wheel and measure the strut! 10mins max!
