Changing sidelights prob :-(

Morning all, tried to change the excuse for sidelights on my A3 this morning, and broke the bulb off in the housing! I could scream, I always leave the fiddley jobs for cold mornings, and create more work in the process!
Question is, how do I get the little ****** out of what was its home? Also, for the other bulb, so I dont do the same, are they a twist or pull release?
