    Have i done any damage?

Made a bit of a mistake today! I was showing of a little to my brother inlaw by maxing my 170tdi in 1-3rd then into 4th i must have put the car into 5th to stay at a constant speed lets say 80mph. Then instead of putting it into 4th at 80ish mph I put it into 3rd the engine must have revved upto about 5750rpm!! I knocked it out of gear then into 3rd at about 60mph. I then tried to accelerate but NOTHING happened, put it back into 4th then third again and it seem to be ok. It now seems fine but i am worried about engine damage especially as the 2.0TDi's seem to have weak heads!

    any advice apreaciated.

If it drives fine now, then I wouldnt worry about it too much. I'd more worried about your transmission system than your engine, shifting down to 3rd at 80mph can put a huge load through your clutch and gearbox.

I think if you go back to where it happened, you'll find bits of clutch that got **** out the back of the exhaust lol!

As they've said, if it didn't put the EM light on your engine is fine. That won't have put any strain on the clutch, but you may have overrevved the gearbox, but if it drives fine and changes into all gears smoothly, again I'd say no damage done.
