    3.2 Service

    Hi,

Got my car at 20k in November with 2 yrs free servicing pack. Now its done 31k and the display on the dash says another 6k to go and 300 days left.

Now there is a sticker on the windscreen saying 33k miles........

    Which do i go for?

    Regards,

Check your service book. Max is 2 years or just under 19k miles. Suggests that the last service was done early July 2007. If the timing of this ties up to the book, then the service indicator was probably correctly reset. Therefore, as long as the 6k miles left doesn't take you over 19k on top of the mileage at the time of the service, I would go with the indicator. However, that means that you will have done 17k miles since buying it meaning that it only did 2k max from last service to your purchase (4 months or so). Does this stack up too?

    Cheers for the reply.

It was serviced just before we bought it. i.e for the sale.

Just confused why they would service it and put a sticker in the window that says bring it in at 33k

it sounds like they've put you on a variable service interval and then just stuck a sticker on the window with a random number on it.

doesn't really matter what the sticker says - if the car says it is not ready for a service then there's no need to bring it in.

If the sticker said 40k and the service indicator came on at 35k you can bet that Audi would void the warranty if you drove it with the light on even though the sticker said it wasn't due.

Variable service is 744 days or 17500 miles.

just reread the original post and it looks like they've put you on a fixed interval - 365 days\13000 miles.
