I ordered the non resonated Milltek downpipe and full system from PSI tuning earlier in the week and got myself down their today to have it all fitted.

PSI have just moved into a new larger and more dealer like premesis which are very impressive. A lot of the show room etc is work in progress but it wont be long till its all sorted.

PSI are VAG specialists based in Newcastlye-Under-Lyme, Stoke. Appx 5 mins off the M6.

If anyone is interested in a day out at their new place, they are having a large open day around the 5th October where Milltek will be bringing some cars on show, and some very nice VAG cars will be on display.

Ive not really had much chance as yet to fully give the car any proper test with the new Milltek because as soon as I got on the dreaded on M6 on the way home it was like a car park. I will report back after the weekend when ive had more time and more open road!!

Cant say ive notcied any difference at all as regards to more exhaust noise, which is good, even with the non resonated system.

When funds allow I will be moving upto a remap and a green panel filter.

All I can say is im again REALLY happy with the service PSI have given me today, they really are a top quality outfit that will look after your car and sort it 100% everytime whatever it is.

Anyway, onto the many pics:

Did you get the miltek down pipe as well?

Make a big difference? Is your car mapped?

Isn't that a R8 oil cap?

LOL sorry for the questions!

LOL, have a little read mate, tells you everything you asked in my 1st post. lol. :rockwoot:

resonated is meant to be quieter so there will probably some some of silencer pipe, non resonated is just a straight thru pipe with no silencer, ie meant to be louder, but Milltek are known NOT to be loud systems whatever type you choose. Mine still sounds like standard, which im glad about. I went for NON resonated as loads of people had told me their milltek one was no louder than standard, and its appx £55 cheaper!!

Resonated one just uses baffled pipes I expect. Without cutting it open not sure you could confirm, but it's a lot harder to make if that is how they do it, so the £55 price rise would be expected.

it is quite silly to buy it but its one of them things isnt it! its a sexy oem touch imo! I do a few shows so at least it will get some time to show off!

lol, absolutely true, only show I do is when I've got bonnet up to do another mod, lol, but neighbours dont exactly crowd round

u just bought of that link?? lol, now thats funny, but looks good though huh

Bought haha Silly I know but has to be bought!

Thats 2 he's sold to AS 2nite, I had to have it been watching all week, I mean £25 is nothing really considering what we all have spent on rest of mods(thats my justification anyway, if she asks, lol)

the pics of mine was the nail in the coffin.

for him ye, lol, I've had eye on for while just price from other seller was £25 alone but this one was same & cheaper, but then seeing him buy it I couldnt let it alone, Jones's scenario huh, lol, god more money, but now I wont be buying new car for a year as S3 sportback Stronic isnt out til Jan then its ok as all mods done by then.

heres a mod that might interest you if you havent got it....ambeint light pack, ie the red leds that light up the gear stick and ashtray....do it. come to the dark side. got mine on order!

yeah got mate, cool arent they, but could be bit better I think, maybe I will play with them a little add some others, would footwell ambients be a bit to boyracerish???

damn i was trying to make myself feel better by getting someone else to spend some money again like i am! hahaha. footwell ambeint can be done and think theres a guide on this site to do it, looks smart but to much work and effort to plum in for my liking, especially as all they do is light up when the door is open.

nah mate already got the footwell lights just was thinking about having some discreet red led's lighting maybe from under seats or same area of footwell lights when car doors are shut, just an idea anyway, not those horrible bar lights you can buy, something like the ambient led's in roof.

I had seen them before but was like no way am i paying that but got a new job and you just have to go a bit mad with the first pay check lol

lol, fecking AAAA my man, do what makes you happy as long as it doesnt harm anyone else & involve animals, lol

****** i want one of them oil filler caps now, all for no reason whatsoever:keule:

its spreading, this R8 oil cap phenomenon is gonna be on Five news tonite, lol, lol

Whose exhaust is that, is it just the plates joined for building of the box or is it purposely marked for originality??

have you tested the car yet thoroughly with the news downpipe? did you noticed an increase in performance?

I'm still awaiting my answer as to if it really makes any difference the milltek on the dsg with gen/stage 1 map, cause from a friend whose a tuner he said its not really worth the expense as it doesnt make really any difference except the noise on that particular engine/box, with manual & 4wd then you'd have more options as add more power new clutch & then you have add milltek which would make differences, can anyone shed anymore light on these thoughts?

still havent been out in the car, been prepareing the car all day ready for a show tomoz. Sorry.

ah I think I got confused with another mikey who had the allard conversion on manual quattro, whoops

right, ive now clocked up appx 280 miles with the milltek. I noticed no difference in noise or performance on the way to VW Festival on sunday morning, but on the way home I started to feel a little more urgency, smoothness, and quicker turbo spool up and a fraction more deeper exhaust tone. Today at lunch I went for a good drive and have noticed a VAST improvement!! It must down down to the system bedding in or the ecu adapting, I dunno, but it certainly is feeling better. I was in a convoy on the way home from VW festival and as soon as I knew my way home (forgot my satnav) I gunned it past everyone. Mate who was behind me in a MK5 Golf GTI was well impressed with how my car pulled away and had zero smoke coming from the pipes, didnt even need to drop a gear too. Well impressed. Roll on the remap.

ah ok, thats interesting as I thought it wouldnt make a difference, you sure the festival fun didnt add to the return journey, nudge nudge wink wink sniff sniff, lol, I think u get my snift, lol, lol

If it doesn't increase the noise on acceleration then i'm glad i haven't got one !

I just dont get the whole thing about the noise, why would I pay someone £500 for a part that all does its creates more noise, lol, kinda silly IMHO, at least I'd want it to be actually functional interms of improvements to the car, not just a booming noise

but there is a difference between a booming noise and a slightly sporty tone. Fitting an sports exhaust to a diesel is not going to make any difference other than allowing the turbo to spool up a touch quicker, this has no affect on power in terms of an increase it might just move the point around where peak power and torque are delivered. If I was to buy an exhaust I would want it to give a sportier sound otherwise £500 buys a lot of shiney exhaust tips :)

yeah & you can get those tips for like £20 anyway, lol.

...Fitting an sports exhaust to a diesel is not going to make any difference other than allowing the turbo to spool up a touch quicker, this has no affect on power in terms of an increase it might just move the point around where peak power and torque are delivered...

Surely if the turbo spins up quicker then the area under the torque curve will be greater - that means you (should) have improved the driveability of the car?!?

drivability can improve, I spent £700 on a stoffler exhaust on my Focus, it was very good build quality gave a bit more noise without being boomy and you could here the turbo whistle more but peak torque rose around 200 rpm further up the rev range.

Looks good mate. You did well by going to PSI, Andy's a top bloke. he did a 24v VR6 conversion on my Corrado from a Golf 4motion. He has a website with the cars he's done too:
