How do I access pollen filter?

I did a search on here the other day to remove the pollen filter. Apparently there are 2 small screws under the glovebox in the passenger footwell which can be undone and lead to the pollen filter. The only 2 screws I found undo the whole glovebox compartment, and I find reaching any further back is very difficult. I just can't seem to locate any other screws - do I have to remove any of the carpet?

Also, does anyone know where I can get a new pollen filter at a reasonable price, or whether just cleaning out the existing one will do (it was replaced by Audi only last year but the air con smells of pollen)?
