Hi lads.

Got a 2004/54 A3 2.0 Tdi S-Line and it's my first diesel.

But however, the radiator fan comes on when you start the car up even when the cars cold and then usually stays on when you switch the car off for a few seconds.

It doesn't happen all the time but it tends to happen a lot on short trips (Eg. moving my car off the road and into the garage or trip to the shops).

Is something wrong or do all A3's do this. All levels seem to be topped up but my car in due a service in the next few hundred miles.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

It's your air con condensor fan mate. It's the fan on the left (of the vehicle) and doubles up as a radiator fan.

Arightt....

So is there anything wrong with the car or is this normal ?

Cheers

It's normal. If you want to be sure that I'm right then press the ECON button when the engine is cold and the fan will switch off (maybe after a short delay).

Just wait until you've been pushing hard on a hot day, then the main fan will come on when you stop - that is LOUD!!!!!
