BIO Diesel or vegetable oil in 2.0TDi

Anyone out there using Bio Diesel or heaven help us, vegetable oil, in their 2.0TDi?

A big NO!

Bio or veg does not go down well with the VAG engines at all!

yes - i use b70-b90 ie 70-90% bio in winter and b90 or b100 in summer on my 2.0 tdi pd140, and it works just as well with a bluefin 180hp map and several celtic tuning maps

i wouldnt use veggie oil though - the glycerin can gum up the injectors and turbo in theory...

the only thing is that once you start using it, your fuel filter will block with all the released crud from tank and lines - a simple swap of filter (£20) after a few tanks will avoid any problems - even if it gets blocked up (the filter) you just dont get any power until you replace it - no harm done.

only noticable difference is that first start of the day can take a few seconds of cranking to get going - once the engine is slightly warm is starts on first turn. b65 starts on first turn anyway at any uk temperature.

I read you have to watch out for organisms living in the organic substances, as these can eat away at parts of your fuel system. Something about it in Auto Express this week.

That's to do with rubber components in the fuel system on pre-1998 cars I believe.
