Had my new A3 2.0TDI 140 for a week now and I just thought I'd share my like's/dislikes.
Overall I'm loving it. Having read a number of threads regarding certain aspects of the car, I can say the positive ones were right and the more negative ones, as yet, not relevant.
Firstly I find the performance fantastic. There's so much torque that I barely seem to need to rev above 3000rpm. Cant imagine how good the 170 is! My only niggle is how quickly your through the range of the first gear but I'm guessing this is common of all turbo diesels. MPG's not outstanding but I understand that gets better with time. The engine is a little tractor like at rest but I certainly dont notice it when the Bose system's wound up. More of that later.
Handling's superb and the car feels poised and inspires confidence. Yes the suspension is stiff but so well damped so as not to be uncomfortable. I mean this is marketed as "sport". You want orthopedic ride quality, travel by barge!
I find the cabin a joy to spend time in and although my budget would only stretch to the alacantara, the finish is top notch. No complaints till I spill that first coffee!
Going back to the BOSE, I nearly cancelled it due to some of the threads I'd read. So so glad I didn't. I love it. It's an incredibly well balanced system and there's practically no distortion all the way up to full volume. OK it's not in the same bass league as the the 12" 300W Pioneer sub I had in my fiesta pop all them years ago, but it's more than enough for me now. It's certainly better than the Tannoy Reveal studio monitors I use for producing tracks!
All in all one very happy man. And so far Leeds Audi have been spot on, making my first new car experience a boner!
