Brodit's are a pain for the Snooper.
I've got a Brodit clip for the dash, but they don't do mounts for Snoopers.
I've order this , which will screw onto the Brodit clip.
I'd have preferred an adjustable mount, but there you go.
Hopefully, it won't looks as Mickey Mouse as I currently expect it might.
I will post photos next week.

Bowfer, on the subjects of clips, clamps etc....What's my best bet for attaching the sat nav to the dash GSM prep? Is there anything nice and neat looking on the market or shall i just bang a velcro pad on it? The GSM already faces the driver nicely so the cradle/clip/clamp wouldn't have to be adjustable.

Sorry, I've no idea what the GSM prep looks like, so it's hard to picture a possible solution.
    Any pics?

This is another company that do a lot of different types of mounts - may be worth a look.

Found this photo in another thread (hope the owner doesn't mind me using it):

Obviously as you can see it's an ugly beast yet ironically very useful as a sturdy sat nav mount. It is far more angled towards the driver for readability than this photo suggests.

Depending on the width of the screw holes, I dare say the mount I've plumped for would screw on?
The satnav then just clips on an off the mount.
Maybe you don't want to make screw holes in the GSM mount though, which is understandable.
In which case, I dare say your velcro idea would do the job.

I used the ugly mount for mountiong my ipod as shown below, I removed the gsm prep and used a nokia mount and fixed it to the dension dock. You could do similar, and when not in use you would only have the nokia bracket on show. You could also route a power cable to the dock.

I didnt drill any extra holes, used the existing. I used blank screw heats to cover the holes. When it comes to selling i will either leave it on or put the GSM plate back on.

I'm thinking i'll go for a mixture of the 2... Velcro the stand/mount to the GSM then clip the sat nav on and off of that. Saves me from putting a nasty bit of velcro onto the sat nav unit itself.

My Syrius S600+ arrived Monday, I got around to fitting the Brodit clip and unknown make of mount last night.

I think I'll try and source some sort of tilt/swivel mount and I was like the unit angled just a wee bit more towards me.
As for the unit itself, very impressed.
Real quality feel to it's construction.
    Nice display, easy to use.
    Clearer instructions than the Tomtom.
Paired with my Samsung U600 in seconds, which my Tomtom never could.
Battery life appears to be very good, around 3 hours.
So no need for wires for smaller journeys.
    Clearer picture below!

Looks like a quality piece of kit Bowfer...but i knew it was! I like the piano black and silver combo finish. Should match the interior of my A3 nicely if i do go for one.

Whats the unit like to use overall? Impressed with the features and driver aids?

Difficult to tell yet, I'm really only 'scratching the surface' so far.
One thing I do prefer, over the Tomtom, is that the voice commands are clearer.
For example, the Tomtom could be confusing when faced with several exits in close proximity.
It would say "turn left" and you'd be left shouting "WHICH ONE?!?!?"
It led me up one wrong exit near Manchester because of that.
The Snooper gives you advance warning, then a reminder saying "Turn now"
Not as dramatic as it sounds, you're not left swerving like the chase in Ronan!

Well I ordered my Sirius 600+ yesterday so today should have it... I orderes with Euro maps.

5 minutes after placing the order I got a call from Snooperdirect acknowlegding it and saying that it will be with me next day (today). So far costumer service can't be beaten.

Concerning the clips... I am going to fit it to windscreen while I make up my mind...

Bowfer does the screwed bit on the Brodit works well?

Yeah, the screwed on mount works very well.
The snooper slides on and off, with a little clip at the bottom clipping into a hole in the back of the Snooper.
    Very, very secure.
As I said, I would like a tilt/swivel mount though.
The clip was bought from DSL developments.
The unknown make of mount was bought from incargear.com
DSL have said they have had some snooper owners used the following tilt and swivel mounts.

well got my Snooper and I must say I am well impressed with its capabilities and I think it will be more than enough for me... if it does what it states on the manual.

Cannot recommend yet as not used it on the car... but I am sure it will be very good. Certainly one feels the quality on the build at least..

I've had my Syrius charging on my desk for the past couple of days.
Loads of people assumed it was a PSP, everyone likes the looks in general.
It's certainly a damned sight better built than my Tomtom XL.
Have you sussed out what the 'M' button is for?
I haven't read the manual yet!

Yeah, I have read the manual on the tube...lolol

The M button is to store your own user points. Imagine you pass on a place or even a speed camera that isn't on the database. Just stop the car, press M for 2 seconds and you can save that point!!! If it is a speed camera he will warn you next time you pass there...!!

I think it is a great buy this Sirius...It just looks right and the features are very very complete! tomorrow will give it a go!!

How you getting on with the Snooper, Pedro?
Believe it or not, I lost my one on Saturday.
Bit ironic that one can lose a satnav, but there you go.
Family weekend in Sunderland, used the Snooper to get us there (which it did, faultlessly).
I remember taking it off the mount and putting it in it's bag.
    After that, complete blank.
Ripped the car and hotel room apart, can't find it anywhere.
My best guess is that I laid it on the car roof because I was distracted by other stuff.
Can only then assume someone made off it with it.
They must have been quick though, because I returned to the car with a parking voucher only 2 minutes after leaving it, and I would have noticed it sitting on the roof.
    Oh well, c'est la vie!
Bought myself a replacement Garmin Nuvi 760 with full Euro mapping, 229.99 from Halfords yesterday.
See how that compares to the Snooper.
Haven't used it yet, so can't comment.

    Wouldn't surprise me.
Never been so glad to get out of a town.
I was actually willing to forget about the hotel and drive home after the show, so unimpressed was I with the hotel/area.
You may know it, we were right on Low Row.
I should have known it was iffy, when the hotel carpark was covered in beer cans, bottles and pizza boxes.
I truly envisaged waking up to my car being vandalised.

I'll post photos of it etc.
New Brodit mount has been ordered (24.00)
Just hope the clip doesn't have too many holes in it already, from the Snooper mount, or that'll be another 30.00

I live 5 miles down the coast in South Shields, couple of nice spots to stay there right on the coast. Look up the LittleHaven Hotel if you ever get `stuck` in Sunderland. Although I cant help thinking you wont be rushing back.....cheers

I've been using Sat/Nav software for some time on my iPaq PDA called Destinator. Recently it's started to freeze quite often. I think it may be more of a problem with the PDA than Destinator.

Anyway I decided to try a self contained Sat/Nav and purchased a fairly basic TomTom ONE v3 with full Western Europe Maps for 116.00 from Handtec over the Internet. So far it been very straight forward to use and has worked faultlessly. I've even managed to re-programme some of the menus to bring the things I use most onto the front menu.

It's only a basic version without any inbuilt phone functions or anything fancy, but then I don't have a bluetooth phone anyway. All I wanted was the navigation function and I must say I am very impressed so far, especially at the price. I've hard wired a supply and it's mounted in a Brodit cradle using the same bracket as I used for the PDA mount.

    Had this delivered yesterday.

    http://www.orangeaccessories.co.uk/s...on_system.html

Looks good to me. I was looking for a sat nav but was more interested in a camera warning system, not that i'm a speed freak but some sort of warning is always useful.

Not sure how orange are doing it but I think it's worth the money, especially with the free camera updates for life.

Mapping looks ok, probably not the best but directions are clear.

    Brodit Mount ordered.

Finally had the opportunity to use the Garmin.
Compared with the Snooper, it's a mixed bag.
First and foremost, the Garmin has Euro mapping, which the Snooper didn't.
    Moving onto other things;
I prefer the map display of the Snooper, no question.
More colourful, with scrolling clouds etc.
Much nicer to look at, with the Garmin's looking a bit bare in comparison.
Then again, the fact you can change the vehicle on the Garmin display, to anything from a tank to a slice of pizza, is quite entertaining.
Phone function, the Garmin wins hands down.
Once connected by bluetooth, it transfers your phonebook to the display, which the Snooper never did.
Garmin's microphone appears to be better than the Snooper too, with less of the "what?, you're breaking up" annoyances.
I would say Snooper wins the speed camera function too.
Its alerts are bigger and brighter, and more easily cancelled.
Once you get a speed camera alert on the Snooper, you can just cancel it by pressing the screen.
If you can do that on the Garmin, I can't find out how.
Which means you get annoying warnings 'binging' at you all the time you're in the speed camera area, even if you know it's there.
One other pretty major gripe with the Garmin is that once you programme in a route, the speed display changes to 'time of arrival'.
    You cannot change this.
You can get speed displayed, by switching to another screen, but you can't have map and speed.
Conversely, if you don't have a route programmed (so it's just showing an 'aimless' map) you can get the speed displayed.
Going by Garmin's FAQ page, this is a common complaint from owners.
Loads would like to choose between time of arrival or speed, not have it forced upon them.

To sum up, I would say the Snooper wins the map display and speed camera alert functions.
The Garmin wins for European use and phone functions, and the fact Brodit do swivel mounts for it.
There's a good review here too

Oh, I've remembered to PIN-lock the Garmin too, so some some thieving scrote can't use it.

My sat nav worked pretty well

I kid, I kid...in hindsight, I wouldnt have got so lost in scotland if I had a gps. Then again, I would have missed some interesting sights if I followed my route 100%.

Actually, that leads me to another function, boggysv.
Even if you're not actively using it to guide you, the Garmin has a 'where am I' function, that will show you petrol stations/hotels etc.
Dunno if the snooper had that.
