Found a nice private road and thought i'd see how quickly I can get to 60.
I read a post somewhere that the S3 cant get to 62 in second gear but I changed up to third at 6500 and was already at 60, surely pushing it into the red would see 62mph?
I've not hit the limiter yet but have easily been up towards 7000rpm.
P.S. I would post the video but it didnt stop at 60mph

It will say 60mph on your speedo , but its probably actually something like 56-57 mph in reality , if you measured it with a gps.
Still probably not far off a real 62mph if you push it right up to the rev limiter, but the limiter in the s3 is quite a soft limiter rather than a hard fuel cut. So as you approach the rev limit it gradually slows the rate of acceleration until the car will accelerate no more, rather than suddenly hitting a hard fuel cut rev limit like in most non fly by wire throttle cars.
Yeah, i see what you mean, but even taking that into account, im not even into the redline yet! I'll have to do it again and take it to the limiter
incidentally, did you time it?
No I didnt, I wasnt really launching as i had to pull out of a layby first.
Just did an online stopwatch against the video and it popped out around 6.5s (including the sloppy pull out of the layby start) :P
At 60mph indicated on the speedo my A3's doing nigh on 60 (59 ish) on numerous GPS devices I have, they aren't as far out as some cars can be

So there is a possibility the car will hit 62mph in second!
my car shows about 5% overread on the speedo, I was wondering whether I could do something with vagcom to recalibrate it.
