My A3 Part Exchange price, thoughts please!!!

Hi Guys

Just a quick question for you if you don't mind or rather your thoughts.

I'm looking to get rid of my A3 and go back to BMW, bear in mind that I was going to spend in the region on £27k.

My Spec: Audi A3, 2.0 TDI Sport (140), 07, Silver, RNS-E, Cruise, Bluetooth, Centre Arm Rest, 11K Miles.

They offered me as Part Exchange £15,500!!!!!! And claimed this was a price Audi gave them.

Can this be right??? Thoughts please guys.

You might get another £200-300 for the extras.
So maybe £16500 would be more realistic.

Awch, that still hurts lol. I'm also on a daft PCP Finance deal, great for the monthly payments but only if your planning on keeping the car for the full term. Might be worth while refinancing to have the settlement figure reduced quicker. The question is, where to go now....:whistle2:

I think those figures are for the 170PS version.

Remember when buying a new car, you lose the VAT and ~£500 delivery charge the instant you sign on the dotted !

I've no idea where I got the figures now, I can't even get those figures for the 170PS lol. I'm going to phone around and see what kind of prices I get, I'm going to jump at it if someone says £17k I think!!!

For information:

Was going to Part Ex Audi A3 2.0TDI Sportback (54) into Audi against a new Audi TT and they offered £14k - this was based on 20k miles and was back in September 2007 (so 6 months ago).

When we part exed the car in my spec below at the beginning of Jan the figure i was getting from all the dealers was between 16k and 17.5k. The car was registered March 06, cost us a tad under 27k new with 8% off list and it had 13k miles on it. On a plus side the 530D M-sport that I replaced it with was only 8 months old with 2200miles on it and it was £13.5k cheaper than new.
 
I'd say try again in a month or so as most dealers are swamped with stock in March due to PX at new reg.

You will generally get a slightly lower price for a Audi from a BMW dealer and vis-versa because they will not make any money actually selling on the car to another purchaser direct.

You also tend to loose more in the first year than subsequent years. I normally trade in my cars with the dealer and generally get around 50-55% of the purchase price as a trade-in value after 3 years.
 
When I was looking at the 120d my local BMW dealer offered me £10500, when I eventually PX'd the Golf against the A3 at a VW dealer I got £9700, that was 12 months and 25k later !

Try ringing a few Audi specialists, wheelbase, weybridge and vw audi sales, all can be found on autotrader and they all give more money than a franchised dealer.
 
Sportbacks just don't hold their value or sell as well as the 3 door. Dealers are also the worst you could go to, they always devalue you your car and quite a few I have seen really try to demotivate you and make you think it is not worth much. Shame it works on some people :(

If you want to sell it list it for 17-18k, better yet look at autotrader and see the going rate. Use part ex as your last resort if you are desperate/can afford the gap for the new car you want.

Naturally you will get a lot of offers for stupid prices, I was just selling my 06 TDI for 17.5 and had so many offers at 15-16 then a final buyer at not far off my list price. I did not sell though, think I will wait a bit longer. Annoys me when buyers say things like "new model", "doesnt have sat nav", "wow that slight wheel scuff could cost loads" etc guess they all try.

Or if you want a totally hassle free change of car. I've always traded in my A3 with the dealer I purchased them from and got a good deal on the old one and discount on the new one.

Same here.

My last 6 cars have all been purchased from the same dealer by P/X.
I have found that they always give way more than the top book P/X price for my car - in effect they discount the new car.

But this won't apply if you are changing marques of course.
 
Seems a little low to me, when part ex'ing mine - 56 Sportback sport standard spec I was offered 14,500 by three dealers - audi, bmw and Volvo and mine had 30k on the clock.
