without oulling the car to pieces how do I tell if I need the 12-pin quadlock or the 20-pin ISO connection kit?

it's a std concert H/U with Bose

What year is your car? Is it the double or single DIN concert radio you have fitted?

12 pin = double DIN

20 pin = single DIN

As your is a 54 I suspect you have the single DIN concert?

Thats the single DIN concert. ISO connection will be required.
