Hi everyone

I have bought an Audi Concert CD player to put in my 54 plate A3 however I have a 'small' problem, I don't have the radio anti theft code.

I have read through the forums and been searching the internet but can't seem to find a definitive answer, does anyone know where I can get hold of this code? Do I have to just go to Audi? I have found some sites that say they do it but they charge about £30.

Any ideas anybody, anything would be appreciated.

Thanks

Audi may not give you the code unless you could prove you were the rightful owner of the radio (not saying that your not by the way!)

Worth a call though I guess, otherwise any of the 'decode' specialists should be able to help, the place near me charge £15 and only take about ten minutes to sort it.

Yep, your only options are to take it to Audi - they plug the car in and let it connect to HQ to decode radios now (not like it used to be), so I don't know if you buying the radio from elsewhere would affect it - maybe they'd want to see proof of purchase, I'm not sure though.

The other option is to take it to a general car audio place, but speaking from experience not all can get the correct code successfully.

Last option, get the code from wherever you got the radio but I guess if you could do that you wouldn't be asking!

Best of luck...

Rob.

spoke to Audi and they want at least £20 and have to book it in. actually bought it off the classifieds bit.

thanks for the help, gues i'll just have to get them to do it

This reminds me of a recent post I made to a computer help website! A friend had forgotten the password to her laptop and I was asking on her behalf - quite legitimate, but my thread was locked and I got a PM from the admin staff :sadlike:

I'd hate to help a stolen player work again. If the swines that steal them couldn't get them re-coded, they wouldn't be worth stealing, and a lot of unhappy owners wouldn't suffer the mysery of a break-in.

Good luck if it's legal, hell mend you if it's knocked off
