No Outside Temp anymore

I was wondering if anyone can provide some advice.

I have a A3 2.0 TDI 2004 Sport. The Outside temp on the DIS is no longer displaying anything and i think this has effected the climite control.

The sensor is connecetd. Could this just need replacing???

I would have thought that a code would be logged if the temp sensor had failed.
Do you have access to VAG-COM to read any stored errors?

The part number for the sensor is 8Z0 820 535 incase you need it. I can't see this being very expensive but you never know with Audi.
