I've finally took plunge on a '54' S-Line DSG in from Local Stealer. Managed to get them down from £14k to £13,300. Full Audi SH
wheel refurb. new tyres new mats. Year warranty and breakdown cover included.

Does anyone have an idea what is the safe limit for DSG clutches?

E.G the Std dry clutch is rated to 410NM

I'm trying to get an idea of how much re-map is possible without risking failure and upgraded gearbox gubbins and ruining the warranty of course

Not really sure but I have seen a figure of 350Nm quoted in one article.

I should be careful though because, as the DSG is a £1400 option on a new car, I'm sure you would be talking at least £3-4k for a replacement, possibly even more!!

Does anyone have any idea of the cost of a replacement DSG?

I seem to recall reading elsewhere that the DSG box was in the region of £4K. Without fitting charges!

Some DSG boxes have big turbo kits running 400bhp so im sure its fine

With no modifications to the clutches? They must be brave!

I have just been looking around on my computer and found a copy of the original article of July 2003 as a pdf file. It says the DSG is designed for a maximum torque of 350Nm.

Here is a link to a copy of the article...DSG article

interesting !!

i have approx 400NM in my current A3 and it's a handful in the wet
i have complete control i imagine DSG being even more of an animal

the first one i drove was a Passat hire car and it was super sensitive to throttle position.
