Got the coolant low warning this morning, topped it up OK though.

So I will need to monitor that, as mine is in the dreaded head issue vin range, mind at least if it the head problem, I have a couple of months warranty left - phew.

Though I'm not sure I want the Techs to swap the head two months before the warranty runs out.

I wonder if the head is then covered for a further two years

If I were you, if the head needed doing then I'd rather they did it within the warranty period opposed to having to pay for it.

I would hope that there should be some sort of warranty for the work and any new parts fitted by the dealer.

I too would expect any work to be warranted for min 12 months especially with something like this, get it done if required asap.

GET IT DONE NOW!!!!
our company has just had to shell out THREE BIG ONES on mine - 37 months old and 84k miles when it went to be checked, thus no warranty....

and that's BEFORE it had new EGR valve c. £400; new solenoid actuator (wastegate?) c. £350; and finally (the bit that was probably knackered all along), new turbo £1200. All in the last 3 months!!!!

OH, and THIS WEEK's fault, knackered crash sensor replaced - £300 ish, which was throwing up airbag warning light randomly on dash.

Audi build quality. Hmmm.
Dealer competence. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Does any body know the vin range for these as my 4 year old a3 2.0diesel coolant warning light has just come on. I was wondering if it is time to get rid Quick. Thanks.:scared2:

Gone in today and I've got a loan car. They recon 3 days but have booked the loan car for me for the rest of the week.

I've got an 07 A4 2.0T (Petrol) S-Line (Manual). Not a bad drive.

Downside is going to be the fuel use, run to the dealers in the A3 ave 44MPG back in the A4 ave 34MPG.

Good job I haven't got far to go over the next few days.

Derby next week so I will need the A3 back for that.

Well I've got it back.

They had it for 3 days and it required a new Radiator as it had developed a leak where the core joins the end tanks.

The oil leak issues were the hose joints from the turbo to the intercooler and new seals were fitted.

Depends really, as long as it doesn't have the head issue outside warranty.

Having said that if it did happen I'd look at changing it myself.

i had to top mine up last weekend and went through 2.5 litre of coolant a week and took it to a Audi specialist a lad i knwo adn foudn out it was my RAD leaking from the passenger side on the connection to the rad.

I got the error message as well.

I hope its not a big job.

I have some spare heads if you need one.

I had a passeneger side leak on my radiator to, I was told its common for the radiator's to rust in the corners. Some radweld sorted that.

If you read the upside down number on top of the head mate, the ones ending in 'A' are really bad, and then the revised models end in a 'B' or 'C'. You can normally keep an eye on the oil level and if it's rising, chances are coolant is going through the top (i.e. head or gasket).

Has anybody got a picture of where to look? just in case we want to check when buying a used A3.

Thanks
