Thumbs down AUDI Dealers = CRAP CUSTOMER SERVICE

well this goes for teesside !!!!!! the fact that i travelled above 200 miles to dealers near london for my car, should get my point across, but everytime i go into the teesside dealership, the guys with suits on just dont have a clue (or arent bothered), they are your best friend till your cars signed and paid for.

who are they to dictate what i can and cant add to my car in terms of retro-fitting?

anyone else had some bad experiences???????

I don't expect the salesmen to be even vaguely interested in me once they have sold the car - that down to the Service dept. I find that if you make your intentions clear from the offset that you will take no nonsense and know what you are talking about they tend to go on a back foot and go that extra mile, I always adopt the firm but fair approach and always keep things civil even when totally pis@ed off with them, manners cost nothing and tend to reciprocate respect. On the other hand if you are not getting the service you expect take the trouble to put it in writing, nobody likes an awkward/upset customer bothering them.

very good point spin, i try to be a good-samaritan most of the time, after a long days work tho temper is alittle edgy lol.

i asked them about reverse sensors to see how much they charge and stuff, when i said ill get the work done, they said it voids the guarantee on car, which im not happy with especially after iv alreay installed HID's.

they find it hard to realize after someone pays in excess of 16k for a car you cant personalize it and retro-fit equipment, if work not done my audi dealer

I've been using the same Audi dealer for the past 10 years and have no compalints with the at all. Everyone I deal with, whether it be sales, service or parts, have always been very professional and very helpful.

which im not happy with especially after iv alreay installed HID's.
Perhaps there not keen on doing work on a car that is already illegal to use on the road.

Huntingdon Audi in Huntingdon Cambridgeshire, just a few miles off the A1. Some members of the forum have even travelled from London to use them as the tend to be cheaper than London garages and as far as I know everyone has found them very acceptable.

I've actually used the same salesman all the time I've been going there as well. We always have a chat when whenever I visit and he updates me with anything new from Audi over a cup of coffee. I can also ask to try any car in the range and he just gives me the keys to the appropiate demostrator and says "see you in a couple of hours".

Service are the same. They have just opened a brand new service centre with more workshop bays, two specialist car cleaning bays, an MOT bay and a tyre bay. When I called in a couple of weeks ago just to see the new centre, the Business Manager gave a full guided tour of the new workshops.

They are now working on the old building, which was the showroom and service centre, to turn it into a new showroom and facilities for new car cleaning and preperation. When I was last there it had been gutted and consisted of just 8 steel columns and a roof.

Have to admit i've had nothing but good experiences with my dealer. Very helpful at all times.

Now if you want crap salesmen try BMW I went to a dealer 3 weeks ago who basically told me what I could afford and I should be grateful that they had condesended to speak to me! That was before they knew anything about me.

I've had mixed results; but more often than not I've found that if staff have got time to be helpful they usually are. Bolton Audi (formerly Smith Knight Fay) have always been pretty good to me, but sometimes seem to be a little pricier. It seems to be a mixed-bag at Preston Audi - I had a service there once and the communication from them really wasn't hot; more recently though I had a repair to my A4 when it was running with no turbo - I was terrified of being told I needed a new turbo but they did scan, diagnose, part (electrical) and labour very efficiently - turned the job around inside a day, and charged £120 all-in. I've been in to Swansea Audi a couple of times too, and they've seemed pretty helpful. Particularly when I was picking the brains of the service staff about repair work I was going to carry out myself - I was particularly impressed by that.

We should really have a dealer experience sticky... i'd be very interested in reading everyones experiences and be able to revert to it straight away when it's at the top rather than re-searching for it.

Sounds lazy but it could benefit new comers too. Just a thought =)

I wouldn't call that lazy at all. It's always good to have useful information easily to hand... Maybe the Dealer-Discussion forum already serves the purpose though?

I don't think it's unreasonable to void warranties if you are modifying the car. How can they be confident that the work you do on it doesn't cause problems later on?

I'm new to Audi and have only used one dealer ( Swindon Audi ). I must say they have always been polite, accomodating, attentive and professional.

I've had a couple of niggles with the car but no problems at all with the sales / service department.

They even topped up my Washer Fluid last time the car was in for a warranty job - free of charge.

Have found Bristol Audi great in the last couple of years, particularly James H the Service Manager, Mark Padden the Transaction Manager and the new Sales Manager Richard is trying hard despite having a steep learning curve coming from Lexus! New premises is much needed though!!

PS. Do I get a bigger discount next time for saying nice things?????

Despite having the most awful start to audi ownership, (car not prepped correctly, sat nav faulty, radiator leaking, tracking out... oh and then they lost my car for two weeks...) I have always found the staff very polite and informative. Service manager, Gary Wykes (Sutton Coldfield) deserves particular praise.

They even replaced a brake f.o.c without being asked to. Bad start, but customer service wise I cannot fault them, they all know my name etc etc. And the one guy I could fault.... mysteriously vanished.

I'm not suggesting they killed him off, just one day he wasnt there anymore.

If you get crap service try somewhere else. I may mean travelling until Bristol Audi got their act together we used to buy in London HROwen (150 miles) or Worcester Listers (75 miles). Secret is to be reasonable, build up a decent relationship. If this doesn't happen vote with your feet. If you want to see real crap service try Dick Lovett BMW Bristol!! (Yes Bowfer I did look!) but 'sorry sir we don't do discounts ' is a sure way to make me leave when 11-12% + is readily available on 3 series!

Thats the nice thing about our local dealer (and local pub). You get a good a good cross section of the community, homeless looking people and toffs mixing together. Unlike local BM place where people in gold/yellow looking to buy matching motors! IMHO...If you have a prob with your local dealer demand to see the dealer principal and put your points

It you fit the Audi Approved Parking Sensor kit it won't void the Warranty. If you go Aftermarket it could void the Warranty on any electrical items associated with that area IF theres reasonable cause to believe it caused the fault. So basically the stance is do what you want with your car, but don't come crying to us when it starts to give you grief due to having something unapproved fitted.

If it helps, as a Centre we charge 399.00 inc VAT and painting for A3 and A4 retrofit Rear Parking Sensors. Thats based on a labour rate of 85.00 plus VAT an hour (takes 3 hours to fit but we charge 2 as 500 to fit Parking Sensors would be unsellable!)

If you haven't installed Headlamp washers with your HID's your car is illegal anyway, so I'd say you have bigger fish to worry about at the moment...

that capital "IF" you said and stated is the problem.....Bulls eye

swings the ball straight into Audi's court for the final say. and to go deeper define "reasonable" lool they could say anything and say it conforms to their agreement. lol totally naff. when will they realise these are boys toys, even when i was a kid there wasnt a toy i didnt modify somehow lool.

i have no reason to worry "about bigger fish", they dont tend to come close to pirannahs.

"Reasonable" would be any wiring that your Parking Sensors use to tap in to. Such as the rear lights/boot area.

All Audi dealers I've tried have been unbelievably shockingly hopeless, once even collected someone elses car from our office (As if there was no distinguishing features on cars these days - oh wait, there's numberplates)

However, Huntingdon audi are very good, I thought it was because Dave had single handedly kept them in business over the last decade or so but no, they are very good

still cant explain why I 've had 11 wheel bearings though..............

Nice thought but I don't think 6 car sales and the odd service here and there in 10 years would quite do that!

Glad to know I'm not the only one who thinks they are OK.

credit where credits due, and its not because the others I'd tried were so shockingly bad either,

though I cant help feeling highlighting them as an exception is a sad state of affairs and the other bunch I've been dealing with have put me off Audi for life, shame

My Local dealer has the most hopeless aftersales you could imagine (owned by same group as Hitchen I believe) - the used car sales guys are also clueless with zero product knowledge. Cant fault the new car sales folk though.

I've been looking around for someone to buy my A3 Cab from and its suprising how slow some folks are to get in touch or take a deposit.

Have so far found Bristol (and Cardif) to be very good while shopping for somewhre else to spend money.

Well, I bought my 2.5TDi QS Avant at York Audi in March 07. York Audi have been very good supplying a couple of small parts to me FoC over the phone.
Whilst the Audi Warranty is in place I have used Preston Audi and they have been very good (mind you, the airbag warning light came on, Preston Audi diagnosed a faulty airbag ignitor i.e. over £300, when the light came back on again on the way home Preston Audi then diagnosed a dodgy connection on the steering column....probably caused by York Audi when they retrofitted the Cruise Control ).

The only gripe I have about Preston Audi is I actually feel guilty about wandering into the very expensive glass fronted gin palace to order a spare part....I really want to wander upto a grunt at the spares counter and explain what I want....although on the other hand Preston Audi are good though...you can sit down have a coffee, read the paper, until someone comes out with an actual print out so you can verify the part you require.....

Before I bought my Audi from York though....I did find an A4 I was particularly interested at Preston Audi...on going to see it, it was sold.....and the salesman there actually had the cheek to say to me "oh, we don't usually sell cars that cheap" (i.e. £16.5K)...unbelieveable....I suppose the salesman in question who stated that probably thinks everyone has over £20K to spend on a car ! So, that why I went to York Audi

Have you taken it up with the boss? Ongoing failure + company failure! If the person in question has gone maybe there was a problem recognised by Management. If you have evidence that they have messed up they should be bending over backwards to remedy things. Talk to the boss... be calm... logical... no shouting (not saying you would!!) Facts are very powerful>.

    Cheers and Good luck
