I'm doing an assignment at uni on the audi a3 2.0T Fsi..

and i understand they do a 2wd version and a quattro..?

Could someone possibly explain to me how the quattro works ..?

i don't know if its permanent or only when the car loses grip?..and if permanent is it like a 60:40 split?

Much appreciated if you can help! :)

Can't find some more information i'm looking for..so.

Could anyone help me with any 8P chassis info?

What type of chassis is it?

monocock ? (spelling's not right there is it.?)

Space frame?

please help! can't find anything on the a3 :\

Heres a question?

If the power only goes to the rear wheels when the front wheels have slipped, but the ESP system is supposed to detect and stop wheelspin (amongst other things), does the quattro system ever come in at all when the ESP is switched on?

I presume my first premise (that power only goes to the rear when the fronts have slipped) is actually incorrect, As i can accelerate hard (so that a purely front or purely rear wheel drive car would have wheelspun) on a wet road without any detectable (by me, but maybe the haldex system is working it all out) slippage and without the ESP light coming on, the only way that could happen is if some power was going to the rear.
