hi can anyone give me some info re what is required to marryup a multi function steering wheel and the concert head unit on my 2006 a3 if this possibe at all

Have a look at the topic named "multi function flat bottom wheel for the S3" below on the main menu thread list.
Basically it can be done at a cost but the multi functions on the wheel might not work if you don't have a wiring loom already fitted to your car which you probably wont as the option was not specced from the factory.
You may be able to make a loom but I'm not aware of anyone doing this yet...

No wiring loom required for MFSW upgrade, the signals for the function buttons are sent through the CAN.
