Hi,

Just joined up, we are on our second A3, previous one was a 3 Door 2004 SE 140 TDI, great car did about 80K in 2 years with no problems whatsoever (other than having to have the dash computer replaced a couple of weeks in when returning to car to find doors unlocked :D).

We replaced that car earlier this year with a bit of an upgrade as you can see below.

Car's full title would be a A3 2.0 TDI (170) SE S-Tronic, we had an option of having the black headling put in as well so went for that as it makes the interior very cool :)

Anyway, on to the questions...

1. We have had a bit of a weird intermittent noise coming from the steering wheel, sort of a tapping noise but it could also be considered a high frequency squeak, as if something were continuously flexing. Just wondered if this is common and easily resolved as we will be having it in to a dealer soon to sort it out before it drives us mental. (tick tick tick tick tick :motz:)

2. Is there any tuning info out on the 170 bhp TDI Unit yet? Maybe looking at something like steinbaurs P Box but even looking on other tuner sites nobody shows info for the 170 :(

Anyway, that's us thanks for looking and catch ya later.

Loved my leather/alcantara seats in my old car and was seriously annoyed when I couldn't spec them on the current one. I miss them :(

Regards your questions - no the steering shouldn't make noises like that - get it checked out. As for the 170, I'd leave it alone for now. Some tuners, like Superchips, had problems with their maps to start with and temporarily withdrew the remap. The DPF system is also complicated and could possibly be upset by a remap. I'd just be happy with the oomph it's got for the time being.

We got our car through ALD Automotive, I think through dealer networks you can only get certain things. Black headlining is supposed to be just S-Line but we got it through ALD on our SE maybe they have the same leeway with other options? It's worth looking into on future purchases.

When you say DPF do you mean this?

Cheers :)

Weird that you got black headlining - as you say this should only be available on S-Line.

Regards the alcantara seats - they're an option on the SE (which my last car was) but you can't have them on the S-Line.

Then I wonder what you can get under the exclusive program? I suppose if your willing to pay for it, you can have whatever you want :D
