Just been out in my mates 1.9 TDI 140. Hes just put a chip in it that his mate had on his golf anniversary and it feels realy quick. Ive heard the 140 are ment to be slow but this deffernately isnt...
The 1.9 is a 105 BHP
The 2.0 is a 140 (or 170) BHP.
which was it?
A4 2.0TDI S Line (2008)
MMI/Sat Nav, Parking System Advanced, Advanced Key
Or was it a chipped 1.9 producing 140, as the Anniversary golf was a 1.9 engine also.

1.9 is 105bhp??
VAG 1.9TDi comes in 90, 105, 110, 130, 140, 150 variants.
VAG 2.0TDi comes in 110, 140, 170 variants.
I think there's actually an even more powerful one but can't remember.
140PS TDi isn't slow at all. In a straight line a 140PS A3 TDi will beat a 2.0 non-turbo petrol. with a remap should easily match a 1.8T.
Teejay you're the one talking rubbish here!
The 1.9 TDI in the 8P is 105 bhp. Thats it.
The 2.0 TDI is either 140 or 170bhp. again, thats it.

If you looked under the bonnet it would be clear as day as to what engine it was as it says "1.9" or "2.0" on the engine cover!
And yes - the 1.9 is 105 in the 8P A3 and the 2.0 is 140 or 170
the GTI golf anniversary TDI was a 150PD and the petrol was 180bhp
he never said it was an A3 8P.
so as I said, the VAG TDi's across Skoda, Seat, VW and Audi come in lots of variants.
the 170 BHP 2.0 is DSG transmission, the MT are 140 BHP.
It seems as if the transmission type effects the BHP
