Anyone any experience of it ?
I'm after leasing an Alpina D3,but I daren't ask our preferred leasing company about it as it will alert my MD and I haven't broached the subject with him yet !
What's the chances of a leasing company being able to offer an unusual motor like that (only 100 a year in UK,I believe) ?

I would have thought they will lease anything, although they may have trouble predicting the RV. I'll ask our company if its anything they would quote on. Otherwise try BMW financial services ( or Alphabet, they are owned by BMW FS )

Is RV resale value ?
Will that not be better on something like this than a 'normal' 3 series ?
So,potentially, the lease figure could be less than normal ?
Just trying to help my argument here !
Cheers

I'm sure the projected savings every year in oil purchases over your current ride will be more than enough to convince your MD! Better for the environment too, won't have to throw away all those 1 litre top-up bottles you get through!

Presumably this time you won't be specifying the optional extra of a non-opening fuel filler cap - a mistake we both made last time!

LOL
Both good points !
TBH,I often wave 'tata' to my cars with a tear in my eye.
I'll be putting the bunting out for this one though.
;-)
I'm gonna go balls-out for the D3 I think.
Start there and work my way down !

~Yep your correct on the RV, but it doesn't always mean that if it has a better RV the lease rate will be lower, the lease rate may increase if the car is more expensive in the first place. Also because lease companies look at things differently then they may play on the side of caution and set the RV lower than that of a standard car, its simialar to a standard A3 or a modified one.

Thanks
Steve

Not sure what scheme you're after but look here for contract hire or here for the PCP thing. The D3 is listed on both.

That's one helluva shout Rich,as the company banks with them and they're always pushing their leasing service.
Nice one,cheers.
Now there's just the problem of availability I suppose...

I nearly got the A3 from them. They seemed good to deal with over the phone and were prepared to take my old car off my hands. In the end I just used them as a bargaining tool for dealing with the Audi stealers. They're very keen with the contract hire prices.

Out of sheer ****** nosiness, how would they go about getting a D3 ?
Seems to be only one dealer has them,or deals with them (Sytner).
So would they phone Sytner, buy it off them and then lease to me ?
Or do they deal with Alpina/BMW direct ?

I thought Sytner were the only importers of the D3 ? not sure if its the Nottingham dealer that supplies them or the entire group ( who supply just about anything ) www.sytner.co.uk

Sytner always seem to have the most at any one time, but I did hear my local BMW dealer had a D3 tourer in not so long ago.
I don't really care where it comes from ,I just want now NOW DAMMIT !
P11D value is just over £27k,which isn't just a whole lot more than my A3 actually.
I reckon the D3 will cost me around £30 more a month than the A3.
For 60bhp more and rear wheel drive...
Be the closest thing to my old RS2000 I've had in 20 years !

mmmmmmmmmmmm RS2000 !

I came so damned close to buying one recently.
A custom, with the Recaro 'tennis racket' headrests, just like the one I used to own.
Bloke wanted £5500 for it.
It was well tidy, but not some totally mint show only thing either.
I was on the verge of selling the bike to fund it too.
Only thing that stopped me was where the hell to park it,given that it would only be a toy.
My one had a quickrack, which made such a difference to sideways stuff.
Just small movements of the wheel, instead of arm-twirling !

Sigh...them were the days...no traction control,no stability control, bags of fun....

Don't think the Alpina D3 would be a leasable car as the review of it I read put it as overpriced for not much more than an 320d with some bits added to it.

I used to own a 1600 Sport Mk2 Escort, that had the 2000 interior and wheels.
Used to accelerate like a go cart!

I like the fishnet recaros, the old RS's are fetching soooooo much money nowadays and like you say performance is so much more accessable than moderncars, 155mph is all very well but you just cannot have fun at legal speeds.

Eh ?!?!?
I've yet to read a bad review of the D3 !
In fact, the reviews say the exact opposite of what you say !
They say the normal 320D M-sport models are a waste of time, compared with the D3.
320D M-sport with 177bhp engine - £28350 - without metallic paint
D3 with 200bhp engine - £28500 with metallic paint and 19" alloys.

No contest.

I can't find where I read this now, damn it!

No offence, but I think you must be confusing it with another model.
Like I said, every single review I've read about the D3 raves about it.
The only down side of the D3 is that it comes in one spec and one spec only.
I can live with the spec though,it's perfectly good.
Half-leather,CD,climate etc.etc.
Only thing missing, compared with normal 320D,is cruise.
I can live without that, when I'm getting 23bhp more instead.
