David Mann :)

How many miles for run in do you guys reckon....

Nice one David.

Very brave choice of Solar orange.

Why did you opt for gap and a tracker just out of interest?

Wow. You might just have beaten me to actually tick more options on the S3! :hi:

Not sure about the colour IMHO, I saw one in Bristol Audi a while ago and it was not to really to my taste. :faint: Each to their own, however, else we would all have blue ones!!!

Will say the rest of the car definately is very much my taste, getting past 1500Km is the most fun I had in a long time!!! :jump: Its very painful waiting for it to arrive though...

Good stuff get some pictures up when you get it. You will be the first orange S3 owner on here I think

No more thsn 3000 rpm for the first 500 miles and then no more than 4000 for the next 500. Now giving it beans but being careful to let the oil fully warm up first.

Colour- Nice but your a braver man than I.

Lots of different ideas about running in, i thrashed mine as soon as it was warmed up to bed the piston rings in and then for the first 500 miles kept it below 4500rpm ( most of the time) and for the next 500 varied the driving a lot.Audi recommend you only use 2/3 of available revs for the first 500 miles, which to my reckoning was 4-4500 rpm

Worked for me, 5K now runs fine and uses no oil, but lots of V power. It has improved on fuel though, have seen 330 miles to a tank with mainly motorway driving.

David,

I was heading out of town, turning right off Derby Street at the KFC traffic lights, onto the road at the back of BIHE (now the uni.). Think its College Way. You were on College Way waiting at the lights and I was having a good look at your car as I went past. I was in a Sportback.
It looked really good with the dark windows.

Saw you looking actually mate with a female...

Saw your car also...nice too.

DM

I was with two, the wife and our 4 week old daughter.

My car doesn't look too nice at the moment when you get close up. Its dirty and had been bombarded with bird crap by the time I took it out on saturday!

Check your PM, not too sure about posting it. Some on here say its a bad idea.
Will keep a look out for you again.
I'm off now, my chicken dinner is almost ready.

Yes they are the tints...

Rear = Midnight
Front = Smoke

Looks Really Good & suits The Colour.

DM

Hi All,

Just covered 300 miles in my tango machine...

Been doing the usual run in regime, using different parts of the rev range upto 5500 RPM Max... Roughly.

When can the engine be really opened up from a standing start on the haldex clutch etc....

note: I love the S3 engine... :hubbahubba:

David,

I take it you haven't read your car manual then? :)

Audi give pretty clear instructions about the run in, upto 1500Km / 932 miles. I guess its up to the indivdual on whether to follow them or not.

Think there was another thread somewhere about running in.

RE: Tints

Smoke and Midnight. Looks really good. Think you are running the risk of getting pulled though. Let us know how you get on.

AL

Well yes there is always the risk.... Plus being an Orange car!

However you ca see the driver clearly.

I'll just put the windows down whenever traffic cops are near...

DM

I'm over the moon with mine, nearlly makes me wet myself. Sad I know....

DM

________

The tints costs £350 Through Audi unoffically " Pentagon In Bury "

To be honest I really don't know what the pricing is and what you get.

How will I find out, does anyone know Pentagons pricing?

£350 isn't too bad. Definately going to get them done, along with a RNS-E retro-fit and some spacers :)

I've ordered a S3 with the following spec:

Ibis White
Bucket Seats
Flat Bottom MFSW
BOSE
Folding Mirrors
Sunroof
Interior Light Pack
Drivers Armrest
Tyre Pressure Sensors

I did want 18" RS4 type alloys, but after a lot of calls to CS and calls by my dealer they were told i couldn't spec them. But to be hoenst i don't mind beacuse the standard rims look pretty good anyway :icon_thumright:

My delivery date is 17 September, so almost 2 months to go :crying:

An email from the my Audi dealership regarding my order of the RS4 wheels:

"Also, just to confirm we now have the wheels added to the order for the car. When we requested them Audi said they wouldn’t do it but as I had had a conversation with someone else last week they agreed to do it. It seems they won’t even fit them through Exclusive to the S3 any more and yours may be the last car now! Phew! They had said “no” when I first asked about it about 6 months ago."
