What is the current choice if you want a reliable remap for a TDI 170 engine?

AMD are in transition but weren't offering a remap prior to the take over.
RSD say the Oettinger remap is on its way soon but no date.
Buperchips currently only offer a remap for the 140 on their web site.

Superchips were offering a remap for the 170 and have done a Leon 170 TDI of their own without issues.

The problem is that a few customer cars have shown problems so they've pulled the remap from their site for the time being until they can track the problem down.

Hi Vertigo,

Thanks for the info. Everyone seems to be having problems with the 170 remap... any idea what the problem is? I heard there have been emission test problems but only a rumour.

Are you planning on having a remap when they get it sorted.... always good to have a pioneer go first!!!

I had a quick chat with the guy at Superchips at the uk-mkivs forum meet a couple of weeks back but, although I'm sure he tried to explain the issues to me, it all went in one ear and out the other.

If your curious then I'd drop them an email - I'm sure they'd be forthcoming with their experiences and latest info on it.

I thought Superchips had cracked the 170 ? with no issues on the DPF throwing up warning lights

Good idea... I'll call them.

what figures are expected from the 170 remap?

if you dont have quattro id reconsider getting one :S

maybe get a custom remap to gain 15-20bhp only?

Please post back and let us know what they say. I want a remap on my TDI170 too.

Spoke to superchips, very helpful. The 170 remap is being worked on currently and hopefully will be ready in a couple of weeks.

The problem does appear to have been with the emission warning light due to the higher temperature of emissions.

Also spoke to RSD and they expect Oettinger to complete their remap by next week.

No forecast figures or prices from either.

Are you guys wanting a TDI 170 remap running Quattro's???????

My FWD has trouble enough putting the power onto the road with 170PS let alone increasing it!!!

On dry roads I have very little problem putting the power down in mine. Sure I can light up the fronts in first but what car can't these days?

Remember the likes of the Focus ST and Astra VXR are FWD and run much more than 200bhp.

I thinkits the torque more than anything and the suspension is more specific to those models.

Id reconsider a remap withour Quattro my dads a6 has only the 140 remapped by superchips and even with the 19s it spins the wheels in 1st to 4th and is very scary in the wet especially coming off roundabouts

I'd guess that the remap might limit torque. However my old AmD'd TDI 130 didn't have too much problem with 300+lbft.

Seems like remaps for the 170 are a bit thin on the ground. Most companies have either released them and then withdrawn them or not released them at all. The common story is EGR light and problems with the DPF. Milltek have also advised my local specialist not to fit a cat back exhaust to my 8L for the time being. Any else heard similar?
