Rushed the wife into hospital ........ 6 hours later has an emergency op as her apendix has burst.

Go back to my car at 8:15pm....... keyed BOTH SIDES from the rear lights all along the sides to the headlights. No there were not any cameras to catch any one.

Absolutley speechless!!

Second, sorry to hear about the car! What is it that makes people do that? Is it jealousy... I mean how much fun can there be in scratching a key along the side of a car.. these people are sick.
Sadly if they're caught all they'll get is a 'strong word or two' from a judge and then be off to do it again.

Trying to get a grip here under trying circumstances.............

Anyone used Audi Accident Aftercare and have any experience knowledge?
I am not letting any of the local bodge repairers anywhere near it for such a major body job. Do Audi dealers have their own specilist repairers? The keying is extremley deep, and the rear quarters go straight to the roof where my factory fitted roof rails are ..... looks like they need to be removed for a proper spray job, which fills me with dread.

Really is unbelievable.

You'll find that a lot of dealers outsource the work, so I'd ask them honestly who/where they would be getting the work done.... if you get the name you can maybe go direct and save a bit of cash????

Glasgow Audi have their own approved Audi repair centre nearby, so I'd assume its similar elsewhere. However, they have crap courtesy cars like corsas and stuff

Dont worry bout the car - just concentrate on the wife for the time being mate.

You know the car will get fixed in good time....... a nice full respay by the sound of things.

Full respray on a 7 month old car!!

Jamiekip ............ not sure you wanna here this BUT

rushed the wife in on Tuesday at 6pm as she was suddenly in agony on her right side with no prior warning.
A&E kicked her out at 9pm saying it was probably gall stones and doped her up on pain killers.
4 steps down the corridorr from A&E she collapsed
Told it was the tablets making her react, put her on a trolley for another 45 minutes and then told to go home and ring GP in morning to get an ultra sound scan booked.
Phoned GP 1st thing and explained what was said and what tablets she was on and he was concerned that she was still in pain even with the dose of killers. He came out and visited, examined, spoke to a surgeon at the hospital.
Admitted straight away and was asked why we didn't come sooner!!!!! Several test later and straight down for an emergency Appendictimy, turns out it had burst and filled her insides with gunk which they have tried to flush out. D-day is in 10 days as that is when any residual internal infection will show itself.
Father-in-law was a SRN, senior manager at the Hospital in question and is on the Board Of Governers now. He is obviosly beside himself with worry about his only daughter and furious that protocols he set up in the A&E department were not followed.

The car just puts the top-hat on it all. The real car fanatics amongst you will know how I feel about my pride and joy.

Not reallly thinking straight either which isn't helping.

Some Audi dealers have their own Audi Approved bodyshop on site, look on the Audi.co.uk website that will tell you. If they don't have their own attached, they'll have a place nearby they send them which should be Audi approved. Either way, I think u need Audi Approved to maintain the warranty.

A mate had a roof rail replaced, no problem afterwards.

Getting your car keyed is such a f**king waste. It's my ultimate dread.

Anybody know what's involved in this type of repair? Do they really sand, prime and respray those panels properly, rather just over-spraying a top coat? (not to worry coupe-se)

They'd have to prep the car fully; just painting over it would still show the indentation where the scratch was......

As for the paint on your car. Years ago I found a local (some would say back street) guy that I have now used for years. He has never let me down, and I am a perfectionist. The stange thing is he is used by a number of local main dealers to carry out "Approved" repairs, so don't read to much into that. He paints historic F1 and Le-Mans cars, fezzers, ect ect, because he's good (no very good). My point is a good paint man is worth his weight in gold, but you need to find them, by word of mouth.

As for blending paint up the rear quater into the roof, its all part of being a good paint man, so you should not see it under any light conditions etc etc. If you can then the job is not up to scratch. (no pun intended)

The worse thing about knowing a good paint man is he point out the imperfections in my new cars, the worst example was my BMW Z4 which had shocking paint (including runns) for a brand new car.

Hope you find a good paint man/shop, go by recomendation, see the quality of their work, and don't let an insurance company bully you into using there repairer, you decide.

In connection with your car, as you are in Peterborough, Huntingdon Audi are part of the Vindis Group and the group had their own Audi approved bodyshop in Swavesley. I have used them a couple of times in the past and have no complaints with them at all. The bodyshop is also an approved bodyshop for many of the major insurers. It may be worth getting a quote from them. Their telephone number is 01954 231200. The can also provide a loan car if required. The removal and replacement of the roof rails should present no problems to them as they are very used to working on Audis.

I am insured with Norwich Union Direct and when I needed some work follwoing a minor car-park incident, NU recommended Vindis and made all the arrangements direct with them.

The wife is lot perkier today, with the source of the pain now removed from her body!! She's sking me to take in some plain crisps which is a good sign.

I realise the car is only metal, but it is my pride and joy (as a car fanatic) and the best car Iv'e ever owned. The keying is worse in daylight as its waves up and down and is extremely deep. Its another kick in the teeth and a strange awfull feeling that someone has done something so vindictive to someones possesion when they don't know me!!

The sales guy who sold me the car, just looked said an expletive and was equally speechless at the extent of the vandalism.
The sales guy at Audi Peterborough got straight on the phone for me to Sycamores; the local BMW repair specialists; who do alot of Audi's and are used to fussy customers and the more expensive cars. A quick trip down he road and the estimator was waiting for me and very good and talked me through what they would remove to and do to sort it. He also sorted the insurance company for me there and then and has taken all that hassle in hand. Seems the cost of the paint alone will nearly be 3 figures. Only the bonnet, bumpers and hatch will be untouched.
Direct Line were quite funny about using that repair centre as they are not on their list for Peterborough. They are BMW specialists, Audi Approved and an Approved Centre for Insurance companies .......... wonder if its because it will cost alot more there as the job will be done properly?? Iv'e had the misfortune of using one of Direct Lines 'Approved' repairers and had to have the car returned to the repairers as the quality of work was appalling.

Just to say........ with the bad luck I'm having, Iv'e been asked if Iv'e run a nun over or similar ......... I haven't to my knowledge!!

Seems like Peterborough Audi are on the ball and being helpful as an Audi dealer should be. Am I right in thinking that they have moved recently. I have called into what was Cooks many times in the past when I've been in Peterborough. That was when they were in, I think it was Whittlesey Road, not far from the new power station. Are they still the same company and where have they moved to.

I'm sure your car and your wife will be as good as new again soon.

TIP: before you take car in - take pictures which show the plastic bumpers and metal panels match in colour perfectly.... something that really winds me up this as sprayshops always use the excuse that plastic bumpers and metal panels never match in colour even when sprayed at the same time - what a load of rubbish - just an excuse to fob you off.

Having had some decent sleep and calmin down abit after all the stresses, I'm not so devastated about the car either. A bit of black marker pen along the lines has made it look a hell of a lot better and less noticable.

The body shop had recently resprayed a Phantom black Audi and the guy said that they had found the colour came in 3 shades. He said they would test the 3 shades to see which matched my car, and colour fade would not be an issue due to the newness of the car. My contact at Audi said he'd seen the car after the repair and that came back looking perfect.

Reference the hospital ........... Father-in-law had a meeting yesterday with the Director/Head of the A&E department (who is also his good friend). She was quite aware that the shortfalls of A&E sending my wife home with a burst appendix could have killed my wife. She went ballistic that their proceedures were not followed and is going hunting for heads. She holds ultimate responsibilty and has recently taken the post to sort out the problems that departent has been giving the hospital as a whole.
It will be interesting to see what how things develope.

I have been told unofficialy that A&E departments have targets for seeing and treating patients (getting them out of the door). Peterborough has not been achieving these targets and the department is under pressure. Basically they are trying to achieve targets rather than treat PROPERLY the sick/injured people visiting there. Whats the point of having an A&E department if they are aren't doing their job properly!?!?!?

Couldn't agree more. But like so many things out there, its all about what managers/MP's can see on bit of paper and not about the true picture.

A fine example would be everybody moving there call centre's oversea's. By far the cheaper option and on paper it looks great, but I have yet to meet anyone with anything good to say about calling one..!!

If it helps I know a VERY good repairer, although based in Petersfield in Hants so a bit of a journey for you. His name is Mark Lawrence of M&L Body Repairers. He repaired my car when it was vandalised and most of the panels were deeply scratched and he is currently replacing the nearside rear wing where it was hit by a lorry/large van when parked outside our house.....no details left of course nd no one saw of heard it!

He is an authorised Norwich Union repairer but you can usually insist your insurers use someone of your choosing. After he had done the work for me you would never have known the damage had occurred. I cannot emphasise just how good he is. PM me if you want his telephone number.
