Perhaps you should make the distiction between those who actually 'own' an A3 and those who are driving a car that is 'owned' by their company or a lease company. You may get a different set of results.

Personally I'm 59. I have personally 'owned' all my cars and I am on my 5th A3 with the 6th on order. I have owned a total of 20 cars including 4 Golf GTIs, a Golf VR6 and a total of 9 Audis including my current A3.

Don't you think it depends if they have a choice of company car, we just gave a 23 year old who works for us a choice (within a budget) and he went for an A3, however after Audi putting the delivery back twice for a totsl of 8 weeks he ended up with a 116i M-Sport delivered in 2 weeks from stock.

Hi, I am 49 and my new S3 will be my 17th car!

27, here! Got my first A3 when I was 19, had that for 4 years, then my 225 TT Roadster, before new job made me think about getting my current A3.

I'm 50, but what's the old gag, you're only as old as the girl you feel.

1955 Porsche 356, 1969 Porsche 911,

356 is my all time favourite car and when my numbers come in I'll buy myself a 356 speedster. I keep contemplating getting a coupe as a toy, one day...

I vowed I would never do this but this is a list (not necessarily complete!) of cars I have owned since I passed the test at 18 (in 1965!) Some real rubbish, some great cars! Some, I suspect not known to many on this list and that is probably for the best!

Audi A3 (see Signature – but it’s really my wife’s!)
BMW 735i x 2
BMW 525i Sport
Citroen 2CV x 2
Daihatsu Fourtrak
Fiat 1100 (circa 1958??)
Ford Popular E93A (first car!)
Ford Corsair automatic
Ford Granada
Honda Accord Estate
Humber Hawk
Isuzu Trooper
Mazda 626
Mercedes A140
Mercedes C270 Estate
Mercedes 300E Estate
Mercedes 300E 4matic Estate
Mercedes E240
Mini Countryman
Mini
MG1100
Morris Minor
03 Nissan Navara (current drive)
Renault 5 Gordini
Saab 95? (2 stroke!)
Subaru Legacy Estate (2.5 twin turbo import – blew up!)
Sunbeam Something (badged Hillman Imp)
Suzuki Vitara
Toyota Hilux
Toyota Surf
Toyota MR2
Triumph Herald
Vauxhall Astra Vans (White – fastest thing on the road)
Vauxhall Astra Estate
Vauxhall Belmont
Vauxhall Vectra SRi Estate
Wolseley 6/2200

Sad or what?

We must be about the same age (born December 1947 - passed my test in 1965) but you've certainly had more cars than me. I've only had 20 including my current A3 and the longest I've ever kept the same car is 4 years.

24 years of age and my S3 is the fifth car I own.

-Audi S3 - 07
-Audi A4 1,8 TS -02
-Audi A3 2,0 FSI -04
-Audi S3 - 99
-Saab 9-3 Viggen -99

I'm 22 and i know i have an 8l but im in the process of ordering an 8P 2.0 tdi quattro on lease as my company car.

So from first to now:

-Renault megane 1.4 RT (shut it, it was my first car)
-MG ZS diesel(leave me alone, it was my second car)
-Alfa romeo 156 2.0 (loved it even tho it was italian, built by an italian and like an italian car. The suspension liked to break)
-MR2 mk2 rev 2 n/a tin top(still got)
-Audi A3 8l 1.6 sport (soon for sale)
-8P tdiquattro(assuming all going well)

Well, if I'm spared I'll hit the big six oh in June - absolutely unbelievable! My list is a bit inflated because for the last 15 years at least we've run two cars but I can't remember keeping any car longer than 18 months until the last few years!:sadlike:

That's all good then!! Shes 20!!

My list of previous cars isn't as impressive as I'd have hoped:

Mini Cooper (1983)
Peugeot 106 (Diesel)
Peugeot 306 (Turbo Diesel)
Current A3!

That was exactly my point - some people are only driving an Audi A3 because someone else is paying towards it. They would probably be like you and decide not to if they had to pay for it all themselves.

I'm one of those.
If it were my money,as opposed to the company's,you wouldn't see my anywhere near an Audi garage.
I could easily get more driving enjoyment for half what an A3 costs.
To be fair to Audi though,I wouldn't go for any £20K+ car if I were spending my own money.
Simply no need to spend that sort of dosh,IMO.
One can get new,or nearly new, cars of decent pedigree and spec for a LOT less.
I quite enjoy trawling the motoring press looking for bargains.
Many Audi owners will snear at the makes involved (Vauxhall,Ford etc.) but they're all decent motors,IMO.
I saw a brand new (pre-reg) Vectra ctdi (150bhp) in Sri trim for £11995 the other day,for example.
That's less than half what my A3 cost.
It's not half the car,no way.

I'm 39,BTW.

Until Saturday....

35 years young with a automotive history as follows.

2005 A3 3.2 S-Line
1992 Golf Mk2 Driver (stopgap)
1999 Evo 6 GSR (modified)
2000 Mondeo ST24
1992 Clio 16V (modified)
1990 Suzuki Swift GTI
1990 Suzuki Jeep SJ413
1988 R5 GTT
1972 VW Beetle (customised)

Favorite all time car Porsche 917K.

Im just 22, had the S3 3 months now! own 4 other cars before including a paxo VTR and a 206 gti180, then i saw sense and got away from ***** french cars!

Happy birthday for Saturday - they say life begins at 40!

Normally I think polls suck but I liked this one becaue I can fit into the 42+ bracket eventhough I'm 278 next birthday.

Cheers !
Everyone's waiting for my mid-life crisis,so I better think of one.
A motorbike's usually a good one,but I've already got one of them...
I can play the bass,so I'll maybe join a band !

Vauhall Cavalier MkI 1.3 2dr
Opel Ascona 2.0 auto
Escort MkII 1.6 auto
Audi Coupe quattro 2.2
Vauxhall Cavalier saloon MkII 1.4

Current A3 S-Line 2.0 TFSi quattro

Coupe Quattro was a revelation, arguably nicer to drive than the A3 and after 2 years I actually made a profit when selling it.

Cripes,all the cars I've had.
In as best the correct order as I can remember...

Datsun 140J Violet (yeeehaaa !)
For escort 1.3L (every panel a different colour)
Vauxhall viva
Peugeot 305 non-turbo diesel ( first hand-me-down company car)
Ford Sierra estate ( another hand-me-down company car)
Renault 19 (first company car of my own choice)
Vauxhall Cavalier Sri (liked it,but electrical probs)
Rover 220 Gti (one of the best handling cars I've had,but so unreliable)
Rover 214SLi (zzzzzzzz)
Rover 216SLi (the company went through a Rover stage ! )
Golf 1.4 (so slow I told the MD to stick it,I'd take the bus,it actually went faster on part throttle!. Floor it and it would slow down !)
Golf Gti (bought by way of apology for the pile of crap above)
Saab 900 Talladega coupe (terribly gutsy, luckt to get 22mpg)
Saab 900 Talladega saloon (see above)
Golf Gti 1.8 20v turbo (broke down on it's first day, turbo pipe)
Alfa 156 2.0TS2 (loved it,but company car tax changes forced sale)
Audi A4 1.9Tdi (basic, but reliable and classy looking)
Audi A3 (no comment)

Next car is almost certain to be (as I stand at the moment, but I'm fickle) an Alfa 159 diesel.
BMW320 diesel is just too dear for decent spec.
Maybe a Jag X-type,but a bit long-in-the-tooth now (the car,not me).
Was considering an S-max,but the wife told me to wise up !

The motorbike list easily doubles the above though.

I've just turned 19, and I've had my A3 since last Nov. Saved up and bought it all by myself... not bad since im a student

Got a 1.6 (insurance reasons) '53' plate, sport pack, Akoya Silver! Well chuffed :)

i cannot believe how many cars some people here have owned and obviously wasted thousands on depriciation.

id rather see my cash in a bank or in property.
