Offset my car?

Just wanted to double check offset for me 56 plate a3 se? I thought it was et54? I am sure I read that on here. Well I found some nice wheels and the guy there says et42 will fit perfect on my car? Any ideas ladies and gents?

42mm offset wheels will fit but may rub!

Is your car lowered? I'm running 42's on mine with a 225/40/18 tyre and they rubbed on the rear arches. Simple enough to cure! Mine is lowered though!

Nah my car is not lowered. They will be 17s so sounds to me I should be okay with my choice. Thanks
