My car is an 05 petrol Sportback, just under 6k miles and I've been monitoring my coolant level for the last few months.
After a drive the coolant level in the reservoir is on the top of the bottom most X next to the minimum line (perhaps 1cm above the minimum line).
The next morning before I drive off to work (i.e. when the car has been standing all night) the coolant is on the minimum line.
This appears to be the cycle.
Now, according to the manual it is sealed for life and shouldn't need topping up and I have seen no leaks.
However I don't understand why the level is on the minimum when the car has been at rest - surely the car would've been topped up half way between min and max at the factory???????
Please please please could some of you have a look at your coolant levels before and after a journey and tell me whether they are like mine.
I need to know whether I have a leak anywhere or whether these levels are normal.
In the meantime I'll carry some water, presumably topping up with this would do no harm if I do have a leak and the light comes on?
