Ok before anyone shouts at me I just can't make the search work with any of the above words!!

I'm looking to treat the car to some new wheels,

couple of questions
has anyone got an 8P with 19" wheels?
is 19 an inch too much....?
oh and are S8 style (the almost flat disc style?) old hat now, saw an S3 (8L) with them on last week and my god it looked good.

I dont really want a std A3 fitment wheel

not 100% sure the new RS4 suits the 8P and with the new S3 having them don't want to make the car look like an S3 wannabe

any thoughts people,

cheers
Dan

RS4s look better than the S8's you discribed. S8 wheels are pretty vulgar IMO... I would stick to 18s

18"s would be the sensible choice, 19"s look the dogs but you do pay in several ways - initial cost, although the wheels are similat in cost the tyres are dearer. The ride will be worse with the 19"s as well

thanks for the speedy answers,

always a matter of taste alloys I think, I don't see anyone with 19" although I see a lot of A3 on 18 and most on RS6 style and more now with the RS4 reps,

I know I will regret 19s for cost and bumps, I weave about on a couple of points on my normal commute to avoid them now, I bought a Cooper for my Wife on 17s and with the stiffened anti-roll bars and my god that's a hard ride, the A3 is almost a relief and that's pretty stiff already

I really want to see how good (Hard as Hell)
or not (Hot wheels car) they look

I do think the overall scale of the A3 seems to suit 18s but I don't really want a std wheel.

funny thing is I rejected buying an S-line with 18s within 100yds of leaving the dealer after nearly loosing a kidney (If you know the road around Portsmouth Audi you'll probaly know where I mean)

How easily we forget.

18s are bad enough, 19s will make the ride awful. Your call, I could not live with it.

I know I know,

just that within reason I like big wheels on little cars!!

and it might stop some of the tyre squeal I get with the 45profile 17s

anyone got any pics of an 8P with 19s? to really make it a difficult decision please?

Just fitted 19's to mine on 35 rubber. looks great and not much differant to the ride with stock 17's. SO GO FOR IT!!!!!!

I have 19's on my A3 and i'm having trouble with some rubbing but they look the nuts

Ozzy, Dave, I admire your bravery! and agree I would really love to see some pics, please :)

I've found this pic from the Kahn website and think the 3dr looks the dogs on these 19s but maybe a bit too high up? maybe it's the angle of the shot

interested in what offsets you guys needed, especially to avoid any rubbing,

still tempted if I'm honest, although saw a sportback on 18" RS4s and looked about right, maybe I'm getting used to them, but I still would prefer non-std wheels

I think it is the design the spec, shows as 19" they have other pics on the site but they are not saveable as they are quicktime or other enhanced images,

they do have one with a different design 20" shown on their site but it looks like it might not even drive or is a photoshop,

still would like to find an image of a real person's car....

Hi,

Click on my profile or on the Gallery and you will see my A3, blue. I will try and take some more pics and add to my gallery.

thanks Ozzy, they look great,

although I am really after pics and experiences of an 8P with 19s, those are the style I liked and what I saw on a yellow S3 and really started this whole thing off.

I am now probably thinking 19" new Rs4 style or the 2peice Kahns above, just seen the TopGear review of the new S3 and agree with their thoughts that the 18s almost look too small!!!

still got to be able to drive it though....:jump:

like teeny tiny castors!! ;)

no I do agree they look really great especially those Rs4 reps,

just that I want to see a decent gain over my 17s, and maybe its the bodykit but its those pics of the new S3 that do make the 18s look smaller!

I will probably go 18s with top grade tyres, the cost of 19s and quality rubber is looking scary on top of the RNS I've put in this month,

thanks MB,

i've used them for the last 4 sets of alloys I've bought, a good deal is probably long overdue

I popped over to the Southampton one yesterday in my lunch-break but they were closed, probably saved me a fotune, as yesterday it was 19s today its 18s,

I'm going back Friday I may have made up my mind by then,

cheers
Dan

wooaaahh easy fella, ;)

try it from my end, money's burning a hole in my pocket while waiting for real pics of an 8P on 19s,

Ozzy's gallery has his 8L looking good on 19" S8 style wheels,

but still no 8P pics :whistle2: :tumble:

Anyone know what's going on with South Coast wheels in Soton?, closed at least two days running now... and their trye/wheel fitting place too????
don't say ebay's killed off another specialist supplier!

sorry been away! will post pics in thye next five mins of mine on 19's these are off my camera phone so quality may not be brilliant.

,

wow they do look good, thanks Dave :salute:

what width tyres are they please? and would you know what offset your running?

is that with std or sport suspension?

thanks, just made the decision even harder again!!!! :uhm:

I've just arranged to borrow a set of 19" Rials for two days from a friends R32 and will see what the ride's like, before taking the final plunge

thanks for the comments! the wheels are on 235/35/19 rubber and sport suspension - believe the offset is 45/50 i ll check tomorrow for you.

I had the same queries on my new (to arrive in March) S3 but I'm going to stick with 18's I like the RS4 like wheels. After seeing the pics I think 19 is too much...

If ride quality is stiff enough with 18's, as I ordered bucket seat I think 19's would be too much...

Pedro

Surely there isn't much difference between having 17's and 18's?? I'm still toying with the idea (it's got nothing to do with not having the cash for a new set yet - honest).
