I've just bought the Sat Nav Plus RNS-E which is great. However when I pull the key out the display turns off but I can still hear the fan going really faintly and when I turn it on it appears immediately it's not booting up like it should?

This happened the other day with my BNS 5.0 sat nav so I'm beginning the think there is an issue with the car not the unit?

Anybody got any idea what it might be? I don't want to wake up to a drained battery again...

What you're experiencing is normal.

It stays in like a standby mode for a period of time (fan will go off if you leave it long enough) to allow immediate use. After 1/2 hrs it'll go back to the startup screen.

Well as soon as you open the door the fan will come back on.

That's all I'm bothered about. It's just my BNS was playing up earlier this week, I couldn't turn that off, I could hear interference coming out the speakers when the key was out and it drained my battery. Don't want the same happening

Has the unit been coded correctly with vcds? Any underlying problems with the car ie electrical problems on vcds?

Shouldn't make a difference really but get it done ASAP. Also clear and rescan for any faults, you'll probably find a ZF antenna error but this can be ignored.

Leave the car 90-120 mins just to make sure.

Right ok. What does coding it actually do? Everything is working on it? I'd take it Audi to be scanned but I imagine it'll cost a fortune

Take it to a Audi specialist or look at the vcds user map in the vcds section.

Coding means that the car knows exactly what's been fitted and exactly what that part is currently doing.
