Hi all, new to the forum. Been lingering on here for a while, and now in need of some advice. purchased a 2007 audi s3 53k few weeks ago and engine seemed to be running sweet until it was booked in for an MOT + detail.

Anyway long story short last week the left engine mounting snapped away from the engine with no warning, causing the block to crack and yanking the bolts out of place. the coolant all leaked out however the engine would still run very rough.

It is now in need of a new block then popping old engine out and swapping bits over. The main issue is finding a BHZ engine block. I have been advised that i can pop the a GTI engine block in and it should be a straight fit. Are there any issues with this i.e. the pistons/rods different etc? I have done a little research but brought back many contradicting results.

Any two pence worth would be appreciated, any information on where i can source a block and any idea on how much this years holiday piggie bank will be short!

Other than that was great the 50 miles it was driven :greyrs4:. Many thanks :)

Not sure if they are exactly the same but VW didnt do a 260 BHP engine.

Check out the Golf ED30 engine which may be what you're looking for.

Theres a few complete engine on the bay as well.

The S3, Edition 30 and the Cupra R all used the exact same engine I think.

Thanks for the replies. I do want the same engine and don't want to be cutting corners a few vw/audi specialists have said it's ok to use either then add on turbo intercooler etc.

if I had 2k spare would consider that myself, probably cheaper than a k04 conversion
