A3 2.0T 55 reg diverter vavlve issue??? please help people mind ticking away

Hi all thanks for taking your time to help me, however when i am accelerating i can hear my turbo whistling more than normal( whistling inside the car with radio on) i have heard and read alot about the diverter valve revision D, i assume my has the c one on has cannot see any receipt for this. my questions are

1- Will my turbo blow/break if the diverter valve is split on the inner seal and not boosting right
2- IF the diverter valve was leaking would i bring the eml light on?
3- if it is the diverter valave that needs changing how easy is it to do on the 2.0 T or would it be better going to garage.
4- my car does seem like its not boosting 100%

any help advise would be great

A 55 plate would have a diaphram style which do split and leak you want to replace it for the newer revised G (06F 145 710G = audi part number)

Simple job but need to be under the car ...if you google there is a guide to replace

As Syko said...Also, if you do this on the drive, unlike the S3 the 2.0T DV location is retarded. Best option I found was to take off the drivers side wheel and wheel-arch lining and access from there. Total PITA.

As above and doesn't always bring on the warning light.
No it won't ruin your turbo.
On the engine with the diverter on the turbo I'd go rev d without the diaphram as it's more robust against the extra heat down there.

Personally I would have gone for a Rev D Piston type DV.

How long did it take to change the DV? Any special tools needed? regards

Takes 10 minutes, no need to remove anything. Just jack the car up, or use ramps, get underneath then take out the 3 bolts (the difficult bit) and disconnect the plug. It helps to use your other arm if you cant quite get the right angle. Make sure the engine is cold so you dont burn your forearm though

Cheers mate, sounds a lot easier than what i've read previously. Brotek has given me a very tasty price for the dv+, may just have to get it soon :D
